It's basically final fantasy with tanks and a dog that has a fucking gun on it's back. You can customize so much shit on your tanks, and you can also fight on foot too with some crazy weapons and special moves. It's one of the most obscure gems in the PS2's library.
Or the show for that matter. Got sandwiched between Digimon and Pokemon, but it was fun.

I remember it was set in the future. it was like...point and click you would walk a few steps point click walk again, talk to people, do things...i think there was a story line to with animation. it seemed kinda dark. i remember going to a bar and being in a ship at one point in time.

But, the Megaten series is good. Riviera: The Promised Land. Any of NIS' "strategy" titles like La Pucelle, Disgaea, Phantom Brave, Makai Kingdom.
I also recommend Odin Sphere. Really liked what I played of that game, and the art style is fantastic. The animation really blew me away.
