Confirmed for being a complete idiot. 5-string is essential for many genres and types of playing, finger style is important but you should be able to play with a pick as well because otherwise you're simply limiting yourself. I bet you hate slap as well.

you'd be wrong, i love slap, jazz, all aspects of it, but the range for most guitars these days goes down to bass range, we hold down the low end. i also play guitar, piano, and have a large vocal range, if you want to play a different instrument learn to play it instead.

Anyone else get pains in their forearm and stiffness in their fingers when they play? sometimes my fingers even sieze in the middle of playing. I always warm up and stretch my fingers before sitting down and playing but I always get these pains... Stopped playing for about 5 months now because of it, had to quit a band. Feels real fucking shite..

How low/high did you have your bass? Having your bass hang low may look fool but it's actually terrible in terms of ergonomics. The same goes for sitting down without using a strap, unnecessary strain on your arms because you have to hold the bass. It should basically be strapped to your chest/upper stomach all the time, no matter if you sit or stand.
