Not all water ice is in the oceans already. Large amounts of water is locked in glaciers on land.

The difference in salt and temperatures is what causes the ocean currents and the ocean currents in return control the winds. When you add a bunch of fresh water from the ice caps into the mix; sure it doesn't cause a whole city to drown; but it will lead to devastating and uncontrollable weather patterns.

Global warming is bullshit because I have never heard of a bad thing that will happen as a result. Every major problem in the world is caused by there being too many people, if global warming kills a lot of people, this is a good thing. Genghis Kahn is probably the greatest hero ever to live, he is responsible for killing up to 50 million people (by some estimates) in a time when the world population was about 400 million. If he had not existed, the popoulation today could be at least a billion or two more and we would be more fucked.
Also, almost every solution currently being worked on to combat global warming is utter nonsense. Reducing C02 etc. is far more costly and hugely less effective than just preparing for the consequences of global warming.
There is more bad thinking and bullshit attached to global warming than almost anything else in today's world.
