My reason for watching these threads may actually be more autistic than the people who simply enjoy it.
I use these stories and pictures as a base for an otherworldly monster in a story I'm writing. Think: Lovecraft.
To help characterize it, I imagine fluffies as humans and the abusers as the monster. The lack of empathy and the way fluffies can't do anything at all against humans really speaks to me about what it would be like to go up against an ethereal horror.
Mainly, I want to do away with themes like 'Fuck Yeah Humanity'. I mean, can you imagine a fluffy saying 'Fuck Yeah Fluffies' to an abuser? It wouldn't register as defiance or anything worthy of respect - it would just accelerate the abuse.

There's also a cathartic aspect to this sort of thing, allowing people to explore sadistic and/or masochistic aspects of themselves in a compartmentalized manner such as this. Thirdly, there's just plain old schadenfreude, probably mixed with a general dislike of MLP. This was done previously with characters from Touhou as well, so it seems to just transfer from one big cute franchise to another. I'm surprised this never happened with pokemon.

Originally "poopy baby" was what fluffies called runts. The "fluffies hate brown babies" idea along with the whole babbeh-hierarcies only came up when the justified abuse wave of fans wanted to paint the fluffies as hateable as possible.
If fluffies hated some of their babies, then taking them away or abusing them in front of their mother wouldn't be any fun. Even crippling the "bestest baby" would be meaningless if it just meant a demotion and replacement by the second best.
