There was this one game i played on a elementary school computer and i dont know how its name anymore.
You started at home and had to do simple tasks as brushing your teeth, use the toilet and stuff (it was a game for children). You even had to walk down the stairs slowly to dont fall down.
Then you Drove with your bike or car (you were able to choose from different characters) to school or work to answer some questions on a test or do your job at work. In the end you received points for everything you did right.
I played this in germany, it may be a german or european production, was around ~2000 i think. Game may be older.

If only it were as good as it once was.
OSRS does a good job of bringing back the old feel, but it's just not the same. Everyone is too concerned with maximizing efficiency to actually go out and have fun. Alot of the minigames are dead because they don't offer some sort of incentive for playing them. Can't even play Castle Wars anymore because there's no one there.
It really makes me kind of sad.

Ace of Spades used to be free but Jagex bought it, put a $15 price tag on it, and "improved" the graphics much the same way they did with RS. There is a certain charm to really shitty graphics I can't put my finger on, makes it feel comfy.

If it's REALLY that big of a problem for you, set out to get your quest cape on a new account. I made friends with my Shield of Arrav partner and we did it all together over the course of a couple months. Was extremely comfy and fun.

I disagree. I honestly believe that the reason is more akin to the massive difference between games back then, and the truly innovative or different games made. The contemporary scene were much different when Dune2 was launched, than it is today. Another thing was the content. The focal point has become eyecandy and multiplayer, something that simply weren't at the core of gaming to the same degree. Instead, difficult singleplayer games that looked like shit were a dime a dozen.

Well no, this is purely a problem with the player base. The core gameplay hasn't changed since actual 2007, sure there's been a few updates but it's essentially the same game. People weren't concerned with (or even knew about) efficiency back then, but with a growing online competitive gaming scene the ideals bleed into a non-competitive game like runescape, so now everyone is obsessed with just grinding efficiently rather than having fun.
