My personal proof of God* is similar to yours but stops short of saying that a singular God exists, just it's effects are felt:
Ideas are real. Plain and simple. Some are more real than others. Think of an unicorn. Does it exist? In books, products, pictures and imagination, yes. You can buy a toy unicorn. Does a unicorn live and breath? Probably not but the idea of an unicorn is real, and it's effects on us are real.
If enough people believe in something and follow whatever guidelines they set in believing it, it has an effect on the real world. It might not be the desired effect but an effect nonethelss.
So, there are probably multiple idea of God's out there, competing for existence.

I genuinely feel sorry for those who dedicate a large amount of their short time in our world towards religion or god.
I wonder what flashes through their minds when they're at that 10 seconds of consciousness phase of the deep, calm and biss silent darkness leading to their death. The quick realisation that they've feared this moment throughout their lives only to accept the truth simultaneously with their death. Not a word can be uttered, but their hopes and beliefs are slowly engulfed into the bliss darkness that they're drifting into. Their silent screams for their so called god are absorbed by their dying cells and are preserved until they finally reach the point of unconsciousness. The cells are dead with the sweet nothing beliefs of god.
For people believe in god, they live in peace and die in pain.

Now I have an opinion on Gods or other deitys. I think that humans may have just created a God as some sort of explanation to why we are all here. Going all the way back to the beginning of humanity there has always been a belief in a spiritual realm in which high powers reside. Now going back to the part of why we are all here, in many cases people believed and still believe that our purpose is to do good deeds and be kind and whatnot to please a god and lead is to salvation. Or other people mainly ancient civilizations like the Maya for example thought that they should kill for their gods in order to please them. However now we get people who believe in no god, or afterlife for that matter. But now I'm just rambling in and to be honest I don't know where I'm going with this so screw it, but hey it's just an idea I had.
