I'm s mid/jg main who is thinking of dropping jungle for top. I liked jungle for the variety, and i played agressive early counterjungling but I feel it isn't as good/fun anymore.
Is top a good good for solo killing? I like 1v1s early a lot so that would be cool. Or is top just "farm until you can tp gank bot"

Treant Protector is probably my favourite, typically he goes solo offlane or as a support.
His q targets him or an ally and allows them to go invisible for a decent amount of time as long as they stay close to a tree. At max level the cooldown is very low, and casting spells doesn't break the invisibility.
His w targets an enemy, slowing them by about 30%, dealing a little damage over time, and healing nearby friendlies over time.
His e is a unit target shield and heal over time with a global range; it blocks some damage from a number of instances of damage (4/5/6/7 depending on level) and once the charges are depleted the HOT goes away. It can also be used on friendly towers. Probably his best skill, really versatile but weak against DOTs.
His r is an AOE root centered on him (root is different to stun, it prevents movement and right clicks and disables certain movement items). Basically the idea is you use q to get into a good position and use it to initiate a teamfight.
IMO the biggest difference to LoL is turn rate; when you click to move somewhere in LoL you instantly start going there, whereas in DotA turning is a little slower, it's hard to explain but you'll notice it straight away. Most LoL players find DotA slow and lethargic because of it, but really it's a great mechanic because you can take advantage of your opponents turn rate and it makes different heroes more unique since some have different turn rates.
Most skills transfer over but there are lots of tiny differences, you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly if you already have moba experience, good luck!
