I don't think most people understand how incredibly easy it is to rob most banks.
The tellers don't want trouble, nor do they want you to harm the customers. They just want you to GTFO of there.
Just go a few towns over. Don't use ANYTHING (vehicle, clothes, figure/build) that will give away even the slightest bit of who you are. Go in with a fake beard or some shit and slip a note to the teller. Just go for what's in the registers and mini vaults they have underneath them. Don't EVER go for the main vault or anything from a pack. Just get in and get out in less than 3 minutes. Cops are immediately on their way.
The hardest part is finding and exit strategy. That may be where you need to stake out said bank for a while.
If you can't man up enough to do a bank, hit up several gas stations. That will vary in money and there is no guarantee the cashier won't pull out a weapon or chase you down. That's why banks are easier.
If you can't muster even that, you need to rob someone downtown or some shit. No guarantee they don't know how to defend/fight back. Plus there are more witnesses and chances of other civilians helping.
of course there are several legal ways to make day money. You could panhandle next to a highway or walk downtown and ask for change. You could go to those day labor places, although you have to get there buttfuck early in the morning and stand in line with hundreds of other people. Mostly homeless.
Speaking of homeless, if you get tight with them, you could go near the poor parts of your town and start to sling drugs. Most likely this is the worst decision cause people on hardcore drugs will fuck you up and take your shit. Some honestly just want to get high and will give you whatever in exchange...this is not the ideal approach for money but you can make enough if you sling for a while but you also said you need money fast.
You can pose as a bathroom attendant at a fancy restaurant or bar and take tips for washing people's hands
