Considering the hoopla surrounding Jobs' departure.
With Elon Musk's significant contributions to multiple disciplines (programmer, businessman, rocket engineer), will his eventual death result in a much greater outpouring of mourning?
If it happened tomorrow, probably not. He doesn't have the same name household name recognition that Jobs did. In a decade or two, possibly. He's not an autistic faggot like Jobs was though, hopefully when the time comes we'll see him in a much more fulfilled light then we ever did Jobs.
>>677388928
not unless he also pioneers a way for you to listen to your music, order food, and take a shit at the same time
>>677388928
Today? Probably not, business men liked Jobs specifically because he was a cut throat cunt. .
In 10+ years? yes, Musk's contributions to the world will definitely out shine Jobs'. Even Bill Gates is scrambling to give his money away in a desperate scream of "REMEMBER ME!".
>>677389267
**Accidently a word, also adding that his contributions to science and household technology have been far more worthwhile then what Jobs left with, although I am not really informed on how much actual brain power EM has put into his projects. He could be just like jobs, where he tells people what to do and throws money at engineers to make them do it. Either way, hes doing alot more then jobs did over the course of his entire career.
>>677389271
Hopefully people will realize Jobs had very little to do with those things, he just took the credit.
>>677388928
No
He doesn't sell products that most people can afford yet they still can act like they are better than everybody else for owning them. Teslas are too expensive for the average hipster, they have to settle for a Prius.

Jobs wasn't even on the same level as Bill Gates, he didn't do jack shit besides be a faggot and do business/marketing. Billyboss actually would work with the codemonkeys and do work when he could.
Who?
>>677389784
that's why i said pioneer and not invent, are you going to say steve jobs wasn't the friendly, enthusiastic face of modern day apple?
>>677389841
For the time being its the case, however the gains to consumer technology a company like Tesla has made will pave the groundwork for the future. We're already seeing more affordable products from them, and also forcing other companies to acknowledge this and create an appropriate response.

This
iPhones are like 40% Samsung components inside. Apple hasn't done anything special other than have amazing marketing and industrial design for their products that make people think they are special.
They somehow can convince people to pay double for a laptop that has the same CPU as one half the cost.
Big fucking deal. All he did was invent some shitty scent of cologne that I can't even check my email on.
>>677390113
Steve Jobs was an enormous cunt, and I'm glad he's dead.
>>677390354
Doesn't change the fact that he was at the forefront of this movement. Personality brings people, people bring money, money brings progress. Cha-ching,
Enormous cunt or not.
>>677389981
This may be true to a point but Jobs understood the importance of an inviting, simple, logical user interface and aesthetics, this was completely lost on Gates.

No one comes close.
He's a genius polymath that understands systems. From economics, to engineering, he literally cuts deals in the board room, then burns midnight oil with his interns improving the turbo pumps in their rockets.
Then goes home and fucks his hot actress wife.

Its true, but from my understand microsoft was focused a lot more on software, not very many complete packages comparable to the shit apple was producing
make software, license to IBM or Dell or w/e get monies. In the long run Microsoft has contributed much more tangibility to the PC industry

Well people are fucking stupid, which is exactly why iPhones are ubiquitous. Back to the orginial point, OP was asking if Elon Musk's eventual death will lead to everyone mourning, which it will. In the last 20 years he's already contributed more to the world than quite possibly anyone in the last century, and sure as hell more than that faggot Steve Jobs in his entire lifetime.
>>677390243
So, a more advanced operating system counts for nothing? You clearly weren't using OSX when motherfukers were running XP in 2001. I felt like I was from the goddamn future every time some Microsoft fanboy would talk about XP or some shit like "macs aren't customizable". Of course this was when Apple was putting out beautiful G4 laptops and not 6 months behind on getting skylake into a goddamn MacBook Pro.
>>677390878
Have no clue why the shitfucks on this board worship the fuck out of Trump as the God-emperor.
Elon Musk is a more successful business man, more money. He's not known for shit tier deals and back outs, and frivilous lawsuits. His contributions to science and engineering have been invaluable, the man is a true visionary and doesn't have any autistic hangups on vaccines or global warming.
All hail the true God-Emperor, Musk the Great

not that i have any problems with trump, but i dont think anyone that likes him cares about his contributions to science and engineering.
>>677393056
I feel like having an anti vaxxer as president isn't going to do much for the science/tech field
>>677392951
Musk for dictator? He's very nationalist. He says, and I quote, that he's "nauseatingly pro-American". I would absolutely vote for him as the U.S.'s Hitler.
>>677392932
Never seen the video from inside MC before, but holy shit goosebumps. Some historic shit right there, modern history
>>677393262
wow, after a quick google search i see what you mean, yikes. i dont think he would do a lot of good science-wise at all. jeez.

I can only get so erect
>>677392932
wow, fucking spooky, thats amazing shit.
At this point no. Jobs and Apple popularized many advancements in computing and changed what computers and computing meant for many, many people. A mouse and gui. Digital entertainment. Mobile devices. Apple didn't invent most or any of these things, but they did bring them to market in ways that mattered, ways that changed society. Musk hasn't done that yet.
Think about how many places you see people using Apple devices, it's hard to argue Jobs and Apple haven't had a huge impact on the world.
>>677393868
her ass would smell like mcdonalds
hes not as big a name, but its growing. people lining up for the Model 3 pre order was a step in the right direction. almost like how people line up in droves for the new iphones. i cant imagine how big he'll be in the future with successful space launches and teslas driving around everywhere.
>>677395182
Musk's "powerwall" has the potential to revolutionize how we think of electricity. They use the same battery packs that power their Tesla cars. They can be mounted in any home and allow people to power their house off of any renewable energy they want. If the house has solar panels and windmills etc. they will charge the battery and the battery will power the house.
If you need more power than what the battery has stored then it can seamlessly switch over to the electric utility power. But you have the potential to be 100% clean energy if you have enough to power your lifestyle.
>>677388928
I dont follow Musk but does he do public appearances like Jobs did? That sort of publicity goes a long way for business icons.
Also I see a movie based on Musks life in the future. If he was a faggot like Jobs, its gonna flop.... but if he leads a life of insane debauchery (Jordan Belfort) the man will be immortalized forever.
>>677396344
>Jordan Belfort
Most people have no fucking clue who Jordan Belfort is. If you tell them he is the guy Wolf of Wallstreet was about then they will know, but other than that they have no fucking clue who he is.
>>677396078
Great potential, like many of his projects-but still a long, long way to go to approach the kind of impact Jobs and Apple have had on the world...I know there were 2500 reservations when they went on sale, but I don't see how a single home battery is going to change the world the way that Tim Berners-Lee did on his NeXT computer when he created the WWW.
>>677388928
Wow. This is the most intellectual thread I have ever seen on /b/.
>>677388928
Jobs is an artist. Gates, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Musk - all these guys do not compare.
>>677396344
He does, but he's a terrible speaker
https://youtu.be/7HOhOeKwe30
>>677397465
Exactly my point. Being a faggot like Jobs or Zuckerbitch only get shit movies with shit actors. Belfort got A list actors and Oscar nominations and awards. That sort of shit gets written down on historybooks son. Belfort got all that for his life of excess
>>677399128
And my point is that nobody knows who he is. You probably only know about him because of Wolf of Wall Street. He isn't famous and he won't be remembered.
