Don't know anything about Wawa (I'm from the opposite side of the state) and we have Sheetz, who I DID work for. They did a drug test and yes, it sucked working there. I can see why they hire so many people. It's because so many leave and come in.
I fucking hated it there. Only stayed for about 5 months before I split.
My manager was an alright woman and we got along fine, but Jesus Christ was the assistant manager a bitch. They use those ear pieces attached to walkie talkies to communicate and sometimes it's difficult to make out who's talking to who, and what they're even saying - especially if you're dealing with something at the time. She would constantly chew me out asking me if I had hearing problems because I'd kindly ask her to repeat herself every now and then so I could make sure I was getting things right. She happened to be working when I decided to quit, so I told her to fuck off and left.
Apart from the people, the atmosphere was kinda shitty and I don't know if this is just the location I happened to be at, but the customers were just assholes a lot of the time. You only got one 20 minute break in the whole 8+ hour shift and you had with no official "lunch" break. If you didn't bring your own lunch, you had to order there, and you weren't prioritized so if you're lucky you got your food in 15 minutes with 5 minutes left to eat. They could also make you work on your break if they needed you. I forgot what loophole they used to do this shit, but it was awful. It was absolute hell when it got busy (which is typical for any food service place at rush hour) but I was the new guy with no experience in food-making and they decided that training was for fuckboys and just threw me out there.
Shit was a fucking nightmare. Do not recommend Wawa if it is anything like Sheetz.

It was so bad, brother. Having a bunch of garbled nonsense in one ear, while trying to work at the register just does not go well. Not to mention that while you're at the register they constantly want you to leave it and do other shit, even restocking - so if a customer happens to come up just as you leave and you don't catch it, you're SOL. My official title was "Sales Associate" but that means nothing. You do EVERYTHING while you work there. You work register, clean shit, restock, work in the cooler, take care of bathrooms, check temps, make food, wash dishes. It's just whatever needs done and there's no consistency.
I know it's a lot better than minimum wage, and I know there are worse jobs but jfc it is not worth it and it's just not for me. My internship is paying about the same and it's so much better.
