Agree with the last part, they do require more attention from the owner. Also more expensive kennels leashes etc, to make sure that you do have control of your animal. The dogs themselves are honestly pretty much the same as any other dog.
I had a couple terriers growing up, both of them bit me when i was being stupid with them as a child. One of them even got me in the eye. I now own 2 pitbulls and since i am a responsible adult now, i have been bitten by neither. Oh, any my eye is fine because dogs arent coldhearted or fucked up in any way. They are amazingly loving animals every single breed, even the ones i dont like as much like chihuahuas. I grabbed a machete, (I was cutting down some branches) and swung it across its back.
The machete wasn't sharp so it didn't cut through him, just scared him enough that he ran off.

The neighbor's kid works at a local shelter, and pits are almost always the last to be adopted because people are either afraid of them or because the shelter screens potential adopters, and they won't allow just anyone to adopt one.
