Because i do so much construction, I have a great grasp of standard, but find metric superior.
If I cook food, I use standard.
If I do complicated projects (I brew beer occasionally, and have grown all kinds of mushrooms) or hobby projects, I do metric because it's easier to multiply or divide the measurements.
I still struggle with C vs F (temperature), and have to look up the math and do paper calculations for that.
