If you want to low people's minds what you do is buy a padlock with a key.
Scan the key with a 3D scanner or get your ass working with a CAD program.
3D print the same key used to unlock the padlock. use the new 3D prnted key to open padlock, demand extra credit for original ideas. Small project and really fucking easy.
