is that really what a good business card looks like? was it just because of the times? what does a fly ass one look like these days?

Guess it was a fancy thing back then. In the movie, I think the business card dialogue was to show how shallow and superficial Bateman's entire surrounding is. Status symbols like the cards or the expensive restaurant dinners are some major symbols in the movie.

I don't actually know what makes a good business card. Anyone any ideas?

Classic fonts (preferably with serifs), thick paper, lots of negative space

so less is more or what?

can imagine that one won't be taken seriously with a super fancy card with glitter and hologram sticker shit on it

It depends on the trade, but as a lawfag I can confirm - less is more.

It could very well be different for journalists or yoga instructors.

What kind of work do you do? They should be personal.

agreed... other businesses, other styles i guess.

different topic: do you enjoy working in the field of law? studying law must be/have been a pain in the ass...

Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh, my God. It even has a watermark.

I love it.
Don't study law "just because", though - it's a fine balance between having a very structured/ disciplined mode of thought and keeping your mind flexible.

Concerning it being a "pain in the ass" - the Anglo-American legal circles heavily rely on case-law dynamics - in the country I studied in, there's a lot more codified law to consider.
