So I found this fucking thing at work today. I also live in Pennsylvania and am aware that these things are definitely not native here. Can anyone classify this?
Big fucking wolf spider OP, yeah they are native.
>>675748085
I used to think they looked creepy but now they just look cute.
They look like crabs. And crabs are fucking delicious.
OP ....
Step 1: pick up spider
Step 2: get bit by spider
Step 3: ??????
Step 4: profit
Markings can be almost non-existent but it definitely is a wolf spider.
I was this guy.
>>675748990
Hogna carolinensis - female
i live in pa and never seen one of these fucking things before but thank you /b/ for ruining my sleep.
>>675750429
They're pretty much harmless. If they bite you, you're gonna be fine. Their venom wont hurt people
>>675748085
looks like the big spider out of harry potter, cunts fucked
Are you sure it's a wolf spider? I've seen those before, but never this size. Here's the other angle I took.
>>675748085
Looks like a huntsman
Can anyone classify this? In my house it would be classified as splattered and flat.
Try and fuck it with your tiny cock and see if it bites.
>>675748085
fucking cool
be kind to it OP
>>675750815
This anon is correct, catch it, sell it for $20
>>675750786
>size
how big is that fucker
compared to say a quarter?
>>675750786
I retract that statement about the huntsman. Looks more like a funnelweb. If so, that thing will fuck you right up. Can you put down something for scale? Like a coin or something?
>>675750537
that doesn't mean i shouldn't be terrified, i've been bitten by some house spider before and had a cluster of bumps that lasted weeks. Anyway they're big and scary, what's not to be afraid of?
>>675751073
Looks like a funnelweb but no way one that large is just in his house, US funnelwebs don't generally wander like their walking murdermachine cousin from straYa
>>675751073
oh fuck that thing will try to spin a funnel in your ass
OP, put in the microwave for 12 seconds to radiate it, then let it bite you.
>>675751073
It was in the middle of work and there were so many people that it scurried off before I could grab a comparison. It was almost the size of my hand. Easily largest spider I've seen in my life. That's why I figured it couldn't be a wolf spider, I've never known them to be that size.
>>675751398
this OP
we can then use you tear down threads
>>675750786
looks like a hobo spider
>>675751646
no markings
way too fat
hobos are skinny
>>675748085
LOOK HOW CUTE IT IS.
You should give it a hat.
>>675748085
Wolf Spider, yes that can get to that size
>>675748085
>>675750786
kinda looks fake
>>675751073
Looks nothing like a funnel-web, OP don't listen to this guy I have my National Audubon out right now, the closest thing this is to is a wolf spider, what species im unsure of, species can vary from region to region, so while im in Michigan our wolfs may look a bit different than yours but im certain it is a wolf. The leg size cephalothorax shape and eyes all point to a wolf spider. Im going to post a few images showing different angles of them.
>>675750255
more specifically, it is a carolina wolf spider. They are bigger than the wolf spiders people think of. But yes wolf spider
>>675752354
Yes it is, just as i spotted you comment i came upon the Carolina in my book.
trust me, its a huntsman from australia.
harmless, but can grow to the size of your hand.
make him your pet
Oh,that's a Holyfuckindusgenus,or has it's formally known The holy fuck that's a big spider
buy it a cage and feed it crickets
>>675751815
recluses are skinny. hobos are fat. Unless I just have beast ass hobos where I live.
>>675748085
Looks like a wolf spider
>>675752965
And i replied to my own comment instead of
>>675752377
Thats what i get for staying up till 2:00am for three days in a row.
I've lived in this state all of my life and never knew of the potential that these wolf spiders harbored. Time to pack my shit and gtfo.
>>675752996
This guy is correct.
>>675748085
That's the rare eight legged african american guy, be really careful he will fuck your slutty gf and rob you at the same time.
>>675753146
Hobos are also related to the harmless grass spider and tests done in laboratory have revealed interesting results showing they may not be as dangerous as suspected.
>>675753329
no worries /b/ro. Don't worry about them though. They are harmless just odd looking due to size
>>675753785
I got bit by a hobo once on the ankle. It swelled up quite a bit, and hurt. But it did go away after about a week. My cousin got bit by a recluse, and was fucked up for about a month. He went to the doctor of course.
>>675748085
its a spider dumbass
>>675754409
did he end up getting necrosis? recluse spiders are known for giving people necrosis
To everybody saying it is a huntsman, you clearly have never seen a huntsman. Huntsman keep their legs swiveled to the side the same way that crab spiders do, making them seem big, they still are fucking big though. This is a Huntsman, looks nothing like OP's spider. Notice the eye pattern.
>>675754617
No he was lucky. He knew he got bit, and got it taken care of. I had an aunt that got necrosis. Shit was pretty bad.
>>675754617
Not everybody get the necrosis effect, some just get the bullseye pattern that doesnt leave for months. we're not really sure what causes the necrosis in some individuals and not in others, a antibody possibly but majority do get it.
>>675755439
Op here. I was actually bitten by a brown recluse on my cheekbone area when I was a kid. My entire one side of my face swelled and the skin started to deteriorate around the bite. Luckily the doctor gave me this strong medicine that stopped it, but it fucked me up for a while. Hence the reason why this apparent wolf spider mortified me.
>>675755439
Did he get Dapsone, i've heard that is used to negate the effect of necrosis.
>>675755797
Yep that sounds about right. I fucking hate spiders. I always kill em and feed em to the ants outside. I dont mind ants.
>>675755924
Idk the details. But its highly probable. A year later he got bit in the same spot, and had a open sore for months, that randomly healed at some point. It was sick.
Shit
When I was a kid one of them things got in the house.
My mom tried to sweep it out with a broom, but it raised it front legs and chased her in the house.
It eventually got ran out with a broom and danced away in the grass unharmed
>>675755622
thats pretty fucking interesting
>>675755797
No worries OP, there are some nasty ones out there and i can understand your caution, part of the reason i've spent i entire life trying to learn about as many animals i can is out of fear, knowing what they are capable of and have the knowledge to combat it, and the other half is of pure interest. Im still know as the "bug kid" in my family, someone has a bug they want identified they come to me, and i have not steered any of them wrong yet. Might i in the future, quite possibly but that why i always try to have my mind sharp and updated with the most current known information.
looks like an arachnid, perhaps a spider
>>675756242
Was hoping this story ended with "it eventually kicked us out of the house and claimed squatting rights."
>>675748085
Just out of curiosity OP, how much fire do you own? Cause I recommend using some of it.
I always wondered, do spiders actually have mouths, or do they just suck everything up through their fangs?
Yes, its a Carolina wolf spider. I've caught ones about that size, albeit rarely.
>>675750815
this looks NOTHING like a huntsman.
def. a wolf spider. they're cool.
>>675759892
Spiders have a opening in between their fangs (Chelicerae) all the fangs are for is the deliverance of venom and maybe emulsifieing the matter into smaller pieces.
>>675761407
Spooky. Getting eaten by a spider is almost as terrifying as sitting on the metro next to smelly middle eastern people.
