Humans have been been able to function normally and be happy for thousands of years, but now people are growing up and being told that it's okay to use cannabis as a crutch. Feeling down? Get high. Going out to have a good time? Get high, have an even better time. Boring work? Get high, it won't seem as bad. It's stunning to me that no one can see how this is a problem; it's a statement of "I can't handle life as it is, I need something to help me get through it, even though I have no mental or physical conditions that should hamper my ability to be happy".
This doesn't apply to people who smoke a few times a year. But if you can't make it through the week without needing a pick-me-up of any kind, weed or not, then you have a problem.

Should have contested it - I've won a case like this on the basis that the drug usage has to be proximate in time to the driving to constitute being "under the influence" of the drug. It also isn't a criminal conviction it's still a traffic offence. That said I do know some countries - like Canada do consider it a criminal offence which can fuck your travel.

I like to smoke a joint maybe once every 2-3 months, I just stay in, order a pizza and line up a few movies. I don't drink since that stuff just turns me into a fool and makes me depressed and no other substances catch my eye.
But I can't even drive to the gym out of fear of being tested and having a positive result show up since it stays in the system for upwards of a month.
