The Arcanic Giants of the Th'ofetyl Islands have long drifted above the world, tending to their sacred shrines, worshiping their great ancestors. As of late, the seasonal rains that would normally supply abundant crops to the region have run dry, and famine may be afoot. Two leaders are looked forward to in this time of crisis, Mognak, the wise sage who tends the monasteries, and Shork, the strongest of the clan. While Mognak believes an ancient ritual will bring the rains back, Shork believes hunting in the ancient tunnels beneath Th'ofetyl is a sure way to find food.

The pack Scarras are loaded, and the wise Mognak looks back at his tribe, hoping he is not making a mistake. The village sends them off, only a few stout youths left to defend the defenseless. They begin on their journey, scaling the rocks of the next highest island, the pack scarras moaning in protest as they scale the cliffs with you. You set up camp on the high precipice at night, overlooking the low islands of Th'ofetyl. As they settle, a bright light is emitted from the mountain they seek, and a loud boom of thundering rock echoes over the islands, as well as a loud humming.

Mognak orders a defensive line on the cliff, assuming enemies will prepare to strike from above. However, the rumbling of rock on rock only gets louder, and huge chunks of earth rain from the sky, sweeping two of your warriors from the cliffs to their deaths (-2 Warriors). Another's leg is smashed, but the healer drags him to safety, and heals him, exhausting him for one turn.
Suddenly, the night sky is aflame as two massive floating ships descend from above the treeline, engaged in a deadly conflict, with missiles and flaming javelins ripping each other apart. One ship parks nearly perpendicular to the tribe, with its crew shouting in a foreign tongue, but not yet noticing the Giants. One of the mages sidles up to Mognak, asking if he should attack the ship to pull the battle away from the village below.
What do?
A. Do nothing, and wait to see the outcome of the battle.

Mognak nods his agreement, wishing to avenge the deaths of his fallen comrades. The mage reaches into the campfire, and holds the flame in his hand, which only grows bigger and more white hot as he chants. With a mighty roar, he hurls it at the enemy ship, landing in a perfect arc on the deck of the closest ship. All of a sudden, sparks begin to fly from the deck, and shells rip off screeching into the night. The ship's engine is lit ablaze, and begins to plummet through the islands downwards. The other ship shows no mercy, pummeling it with shot until it explodes, spiraling towards the world far below. The other ship stalls, and turns, heading towards the cliff. A voice calls out in the night, "Who goes there? Identify yourselves!"

Mognak stands tall in the torchlight of the ship. "I am Mognak the Sage, leader of the Croui'Mrepheg. We are the inhabitants of these isles. What business have you here?" A momentary pause, then a gangplank lowers from the ship to the cliff side. "My business is my own, Large One. But no harm shall come to you from my men for now." The ship captain stands on the plank, a human in full battle regalia. Shork brandishes his club, and in a hushed tone tells us not to trust these outsiders, and that he may be able to to disable this ship if they act quick enough.

Mognak shakes his head to Shork, and moves up the ramp. "We have not had strangers in our lands for many years, can we trust you?" The Captain smiles deviously. "Who would say no to that?" he asks loudly, eliciting snickers from the deck. "What the hell is that monster?" cried another man from the deck, pointing at the Scarra. "The Gnomes who this ship belonged to previously are just as simple!" the Captain shouts. "What harm could they do to us? Leave us be, Large One. Stay out of our way, or there will be Hell to pay." The plank unattaches, nearly knocking Mognak to his death. The ship leaves, flying upwards into the night. The Giants, bewildered and angry, settle in for sleep.

Mognak ignores this island, and orders his men upwards once again. As they reach the second cliff, they find what appears to be a steampunk lifeboat at the entrance of a ancient, abandoned Giant temple. Shork immediately wants to rip apart the ship and kill the intruders inside, but the Healer suggests sending in the Scarras to scout the temple and possibly drag the intruders out. However, Mognak wants to examine the temple himself for ancient artifacts.
