>>675396130
couldnt get away with it unless you immediately bailed to country that wouldnt extradite you but the machines dont hold enough cash to make it worth it and the internal security measure are able to detect theft even from someone who has direct access

>>675396175
I've found 3 in 5 years, the machines can detect the most common types and will actually shut down upon detection, if i find them they are either destroyed on site or turned over to the police/fed depending on what they want
1: depends on the location of the machine I work out of chicago which can see upwards of 30,000 a month
2: within a half hour of the machine reporting a problem

over the past several months the usbank atms right around me have slowed to a crawl. i know they run on, or at least used to run on xp from previous crash screens

several of the ones i use regularly have gotten so laggy its hard to use almost.

they did recently add those automatic check readers and added 10 and 50 $ bills to their output logic.

do you know why this may be? ive been joking and telling my gf that they are infected with coin mining shit.

>>

yes hack the eprom so you can remotely take control of the atm cassette.

easier to hack it then bruteforce the money out
>>
>>675397843
Huh, that seems insecure.
>>
>>675397806

There has to be a way though. If the machine is designed to spit out money based upon a series of correct actions, there's got to be a way to get the computer to replicate the mechanical function of spitting money out.

>>
>>675397614
Dispite what many may think no atm tech in their right mind would steal from an atm, that pretty much a guaranteed way to make sure you never work in a field that involves money ever again because the feds get involved, so when people talk to us and say "damn id be to tempted to steal from it" we think youre fucking retarded because we dont want to end up in jail and then homeless

PI's inspect them from time to time there are also sensors that detect everything from weight on the card readers to ambient signals. these devices (Independant and self contained) arent touched by us and we are told the second we tamper with them we are out the door

alright here are the schematics to the most popular altel atm. you can only obtain this if you're in the hardware department in their europe office.
>>
>>675397726
any time denominations are changed its usually by the request of the client because they see what the tellers are being asked for so they change the machine to match
>>
>>675398690

>>675398595
exactly 5 if you use Bertrand's postulate and apply it to the time it takes to hack an eprom chip in the mainframe
>>
>>675398742
easy, dial the atms phone number and enter the admin passcode. finding the phone number is the hardest part. the passcode is usually 12345 or 54321
>>
>>675397973
>>675398108
nope the main computers firmware is independent of internal device firmware. you have to have direct access to the internal devices to make them perform, at which point making it spit money out is kinda pointless because youre inside the vault
>>

Well you're a pretty shitty technician if you can't make it so I can put my dick inside it

wat?

youre better off going old school and duplicating cards and pins, adding hardware to a machine wont work for the vast majority of skimmers you can buy because the machine will detect them. Austrailia had a problem with this a few years back which is why they isolate the devices better now
>>
>>675400793
Nice try, OP. But you already showed us the way to free money.

See
>>675395592
The money in the screen, duh. Someone pulled a decent heist.
>>
>>675395592
Wow so nothing that can make us money! Finally what I've been waiting for a lecture on the inner workings of a machine that dispense money, and no mention of how to rig or exploit these machines! Yes!!!! My prayers to allah Jesus and the Buddha have been answered!!!! Hey OP go fuck yourself.
>>
>>675403127
yeah that kind of shit happens all the time when fags like >>675403132 go full trigger and get pissed at the machine.

>>675403132
guess what, its a machine that people have been trying to exploit for 40 some odd years, banks dont like it when you fuck with their money so they make it difficult. Wanna rob and atm? get an industrial grinder spend about 30 minutes cutting the vault door off hope the cops dont show up while youre doing this and bam theres your money
>>
>>675403132
watch those edges son
>>
where are the cameras on most of the machine?

In terminator 2 John Connor was able to hack a machine to spit out cash? would anything like this work in IRL?

>pic related
>>
>>675397775
Most likely it is C. Why the fuck would they use COBOL?
>>
>>675404846
if it happened in terminator, it must be realistic
>>
>>675397806
You realize that is absolutely wrong... The BIOS is literally the binding for all input and output on a system.
>>
>>675404846
cameras are usually at eye level on the screens and in the surrounding walls. some machines have them pointed at the intake areas of the machines esp. for checks.

the john connor device wouldnt have even work back then due to the obstruction sensor. in the card reader those sensors arent for skimming though it wouldve simply told the machine the card was jammed and spit it back out

there are multiple sets of firmware on atms, one talks to the other but the bios can not command the other internals to do anything

3 MB, 500x281
would an ATM kill you if this happened ?
>>
>>675405956
quite possibly yes depending on the vault weight. our lightest units weigh in the 500lb range but there are lighter units out there
>>
will doing this get me money?

>>675406371
we've already addressed this

I saw the post about the sucker, but what is the stupiest way somebody has tried to rip off an atm?

Do you think cahs will become outdated? Have you seen a decline in atm use since the beginning of your career?
>>
>>675405875
The thing is an absolute physical compromise of a system to the BIOS level would mean cross communication between the two systems could be intercepted. Unless between those systems there is another type of middle man or something? Like a virtual man-trap? APT it and wait?
>>
>>675395592

how many Ass To Mouth jokes per day with friends and coworkers?
>>
>>675406494
the stupidest way there are 2 answers to that one, we've had people try and hit them with cars which is hit or miss and depending on the size of your car youll end up totaling it (which ive had to deal with) to someone walking up on a tech who was in a vault (see the post about us being armed)

>Do you think cahs will become outdated? Have you seen a decline in atm use since the beginning of your career?
Honestly no if anything with our society becoming more tech oriented atm use has increased. no one wants to talk to a person unless theres a problem and with customers becoming more tech friendly theyll be willing to perform more actions on the machines (Chase for instance now allows you to make payments to things from them if the account is linked)

>>
>>675407396
in this industry its constant
>>
>>675407497
Interesting & thanks for the response...I thought that with apple pay and other things that cash would be on the decline.

I suppose it will always have a place though.

Follow-up
Do techs service more atms now than before? Are there more total in your territory?
>>
>>675405956
I aint no skank
>>
>>675408519
I'm responsible a total of 430 machines and it will increase over this next year but by how much I'm not sure, the orders change almost daily it seems

a better answer to your query with more and more needs of customers being met by electronic means it only makes sense for an ATM to evolve with the trend its less about the cash but cash will remain its primary attraction for now
