Hey /b/ I've really been getting into Prog/Psychedelic Rock recently and I was wondering if anyone had any awesome stuff to check out.

Some of my favorites have been Pink Floyd, Tame Impala, Puscifer, The Open Mind, My Morning Jacket, and even Sticky Fingers.

Nirvana is pretty eye opening
>>
I'd start with the old prog, Floyd being a good gateway, then check out Camel, King Crimson, frank Marino and mahogany rush, yes, genesis, ELP, rush, etc. If you're into heavier stuff there's a tom of great prog metal too.

Awesome! Psychedelic Rock is definitely my favorite genre. It is so incredibly varied and you can find so much awesome stuff

Check out this album from a lesser known band called Kingston Wall, they are my favorite of all time! The founder of the band killed himself by jumping off of a church tower after they released their third album

>>
>>675230029
Not Op, but I think they are great musicians and they have a few good songs, but they have such a squeaky clean image that is usually why bands don't attract either hard core fans or a massive following. Not like Rush didn't have a following, but they didn't appeal to the same people that tripped on acid while listening to Pink Floyd or King Krimson, or even Tool.
Or whatever, maybe it's just the dose of mescaline talking, im just barely starting to come down from a trip

The Beatles Sgt Pepper, revolver and magical mystery tour have some great tried and true classic psychedelic rock songs.

Early Jefferson Airplane wasn't too bad either, though not nearly as long and intricate as the Floyd and ELP epics.

Airplane really should be more in the psychedelic rock subgenre, but it was pretty progressive for 69'

I don't care so much for genre semantics as long as how the tracks make me feel

>>
Old and why: Dream Theater for tech
Rush for tech and general prog
KC, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Happy the Man, Magma for good vibes and general awesome music
Gentle Giant for Prague af cheif, literally the most prog group in existence imo

New and why: Brown Bird for 5 albums of absolutely delicious Jewish folk mixed with American folk with a really awesome sound. Great scales, great concepts about life and death ect. Fantastic duo.
(Most of the rest of this list is metal, looking for more contemporary prog outside of that genre)
BtBAM, after Alaska, because they really started getting theatrical and technical.
Consider the Source because if anything on this list doesn't peak your interest you NEED to listen to these guys. Something seriously good is coming from them.
Idk man I'm drawing a blank on the rest, it's 2am here but
TL;DR
>Rush
>Dreamtheater
>Gentle Giant
>Brown Bird
>BTBAM
>Consider the Source
>Mastadon
They should find you some great related searches on Youtube, which is a great place to find some awesome music.

Big psychedelic music fan. Was turning over stones a few months back looking for something to really hit the spot. Found it.
Sugarloaf is good and I really dig Traffic, but right now Vanilla Fudge is really rockin' my nuts.

I grew up mostly into prog/psych rock.

Nowadays, I'm largely into progressive and uplifting trance.

Bridged the gap well for me.

Still love some good prog rock though.
