I'm not really into tattoos, 1; My future employment (government work) does not allow any type of visible tattoo. 2; I have no fucking clue what to get, i see most people get random shit like shit they think looks scary/intimidating, shit that means stuff to them (i don't mind that stuff, not that it should matter) and just visible tattoos to fit in with the current popularity of the crowd.
I don't think i'll ever get one because i have no idea what to get and if i choose something who's to say i would hate it a year later..have fun removing something of decent size without leaving a mark.
I've noticed that the social media has a massive influence on trends. Tattoos have been a big deal for quite some time, but since 2012 they've blown up again. I remember going to clubs, not many people had any tattoos, then suddenly 2012- everyone second person had some shitty one just to keep up with the trend.

I enjoy putting a lot of time and effort into something i can be proud of, whereas they kids you're talking about are the ones who chuck a loud exhaust, massive sub and roll around, windows down being obnoxious.
Relating it to tattoos; I'm more of a person to research exactly what i want, prepare and pefect what i want. If i got a tattoo it wouldn't be a rush job, just going one for the sake of it. Tattoos are a great indicator for a person that simply makes decisions with very little foresight in their lives. To elaborate:
1. The potential judgment they will receive for having a tattoo - This is the first and foremost indicator, getting a tattoo is a decision you make (outside of being put into a concentration camp), but many people with tattoos will express their displeasure with being judged, or losing out on job opportunities, for having tattoos. This is a person saying there shouldn't be consequences for a decision they made, plain and simple.
2. Tattoos are inherently vain, even the 'meaningful' ones - A tattoo, especially one place on a part of the body the wearer cannot easily see, is simply a display piece to other people. Even the meaningful tattoo you got for your dead grandmother, you got simply so you could show other people "This is how much I care about my grandmother!" It is pure vanity.
3. To get a tattoo, you have to sit still sometimes for hours, doing practically nothing - You might as will go get your hair and nails done, same thing.

As i said previously man, i'm all for a decent tattoo that's relevant to your life or something that you're put time and effort into. If you feel that you need to express yourself through tattoos, be my guest, live that life. But it's not really be much of an interest to myself, more so that i'm unsure what to get and i'd feel too cheesy personally if i got something personal tattooed on my body. I'm content in remembering my deceased family members in memory, i don't think it's really appropriate to show your respect for them by drawing on your skin (simple term).
