I still remember the first winter I experienced in Chicago.
Was not used to driving in snow, and got into an accident 2 times in one month.
Ethnicity is different as well.
Chicago is way more white/black while LA is much diverse (hispanics/asians/white/blacks)
There isn't much to do to chill in Chicago, but maybe this was because of the new friends I made here.
All in all, I think the general atmosphere is what makes them so different. LA in my opinion was much more easy going and fun-seeking.

Public transportation in LA is almost nonexistent, and I had a hell of a time waiting for buses that came hourly for a couple months.

Continuing: I feel college was one of the best things that could ever happen to me. I live 5.5 hrs from home. The combination of a new town and new type of life / school system really pushed me in a good direction. All the different people coming together.
