One gender? Well, we do have different hormone levels so males we're a bit more blunt and feel a bit more aggressive. Just comes with the penis.
Over time we've developed roles as a species for women and men. When we were much more primitive, the men would go out and hunt for animals and etc. while the women would stay stay back, raise the children, gather fruits, and etc. Due to this men have sort of earned the social status of being the earner while the mother tends to the child and upkeeps the house.
Also, evolutionary wise men have developed stronger upper bodies due to use having to exert ourselves for things like hunting.
In terms of how it feels? I can't speak for women, but we have different emotional/chemical wavelengths due to our roles as mammals.

hm, you may have recognized that due to there being two genders, there is great polarisation and I believe it has a great impact on the dynamics of our society.
The gender difference doesnt only express in certain genitalia being present but also in general strength, hormone levels asf. Speaking as a male, the stronger gender, there is an urge to give (my sperm) and also to use my relative physical capability opposed to a females capability.
Concerning "to be just one of a whole" ... yes that is indeed a truly fitting description. For those of us that grasped the idea of unity and wanting it, the unification with the opposite gender is very fulfilling. It's a big release to feel complete, and it is only possible with another being in a certain way. I believe that there also is a biological foundation to this but it is also a thing of the mind and about liking the concept of being whole, i.e. with a neutralised polarity. But there can also be great fear of losing this completeness since we depend on the other being in order to feel that way... it is one of the greatest thing known to us and thus has a big impact on our behavior in general

I suppose in the long run having to depend on another gender for the race to continue growing and surviving caused us to stick together. Staying strong as a large group rather than going off alone in the wild without a need for any human interaction means that despite having a weak body, being able to fend off large animals was still possible in large numbers of humans. Not just self defense but in terms of hunting for food etc having the need to stay together enabled us to make a place for the species with the dangers thousands of years ago.
In the modern age I guess its hard to think why it is such a benefit today. We already have the social constructs in which to stay together.
