You can make the game a whole lot easier by decreasing night time, have more time to scavenge and learn more about what you need to do to stay alive, most of my time i spend preparing for winter.
Once u get a routine going u can set night and day timer back to normal and see how you do. Its what i did anyways

On top of that i usually have multiple bases, across the map to make travel time less. First base is usually near a corner of the map, like a dead end or a funnel so when the dogs come its easier to deal with

I got to summer once. replaced all my fire pits with the cold ones.
Stocked up on the load of ice for the ice hats for summer too.
Its just reverse winter but with your shit possibly catching on fire.

I tend to build my base in the pig village after destroying all their houses and killing them all then I wall off the the green edges of the village and build my base from there (when playing as webber)

Also, learn to live at night if you dont have adequate cooling during the day. The sanity loss isint so bad if youve got a good amount of crafting to keep you busy.
