What it could be that is bad: esophageal varices (do you have liver disease?), bleeding ulcer (do you have peptic ulcer disease?)
What it could be that is not bad: ruptured superficial vessul somewhere in upper GI tract, longitudinal tear of superficial arteries at the junction of your esophagus and stomach (did you throw up a lot or do a lot of dry heaving last night?)
If you continue vomiting blood or vomit massive amounts of blood, go to a hospital ASAP. If this is the first time its ever happened and it doesn't happend again, I wouldn't sweat it.

No dry heaving just the last two times I was getting sick blood came out. It was not a lot. But it's never happened before.
