You're gonna hear a lot of opinions on both sides, but I'll say this. I bout a MBP for college, and six years later (with an installation of an SSD) I have a machine that runs exactly as it did the day I bought it. It's great. And all MBPs come with SSD standard now.
Your mileage may vary, but that's just my experience. Get apple care just in case.

I'm a graphic designer and going with a Mac is not a good solution.. Everyone talks about how efficient they are but you can get a PC with the same hardware cheaper. If you have the money to put into a mac, buy a windows machine with the same money with better specs.
I hate the idea that designers think they are so pretentious that they deserve their own line of computer. My PC will always run better and I'm a designer. Have fun catching up.
