OP here, I have plenty of money, and I do not hire anyone for anything. The only person who gets my money for working for me is waiters and delivery people.
By the way, when I say plenty of money I mean I never have to work, and I don't have to want for much. I don't have a Lamborghini, but I don't really want one. I get $14,000 a month for free (basically) and I have 990,000 in the bank, and it's all from saving the 14,000 because I just don't use most of it monthly.

Well, I lived in a hippie den for 5 ish months. I worked the night shift at a gas station from 10 till 9 about 4 days a week. Paid 200 in rent and utilities and got by just fine. Made maybe 1200 a month and partied every day. The worst part was I slept on a shitty couch. The best part was I didn't have a care in the world. The real life hit me hard. I moved back in with my rents for about 4 months till I found a summer job on the other side if the state. Had fun and made next to nothing working a summer camp till I got fired for stealing and fucking shit up in the mess hall. Didn't rat on my friends, turned out the cops got involved, and fell into the lowest points of my life. Worked at a pizzaslut for 2 ish years and became a manager. Got paid shit and bailed to the mountains for the winter. Basically was salve labor. Got fired for being a dumb ass and now I make 2 to 3k a month, have an alright apartment and the best friends I could ever ask for. Tl;dr being broke can suck but it can also teach you a lot about life and who you really are. I learned that this reality sucks dick and you gotta push through till the day it ends.

A family member put some money into a fund that performs well. It generates a certain amount every year from different investments. The majority of it goes to my father, and I am guaranteed the 14k. If my math is correct my Dad is getting (on average) 5 to 6 times what I am getting, but lives more modestly than me. I live with GF in apartment, a bunch of electronics, Dad drives a 1992 car, haha.

I don't feel like you are truly 'poor'. I think of you as someone who just chose to live with less, which is how I live kind of, and why I made the thread. I see poor people spending more than me. I buy my clothes at Walmart, I eat food I cook, I only spend money on electronics I really want, not bullshit, and even my girlfriend works to pay her half of the rent, even though she doesn't have to.

I think everyone needs to be poor for a period in their life, it lets you appreciate what you have. I'm a poor jobless fag at the moment, live in a shitty small unit with a house mate, only have enough for rent, food, electricity, gas, water and internet. maybe an extra $50 a fortnight for luxury items (going out to eat, a videogame, etc)
It's not that bad, but sometimes it can get pretty rough, with no savings it means if something goes wrong, it's much worse than if you aren't poor. If something breaks it can take a while to get it replaced, you often end up fixing things yourself or making do with what you have, which teaches you good skills, but if it's something vital then it's pretty shitty. There is very little room for error, if you don't plan your expenditures well then you get into deep shit and a lot of time is spent worrying about paying bills, there has been multiple times where I had to forgo food for a day or two so that I could cover rent, or had my internet shut off because I needed to pay my water bill.
Like I said earlier though, I would rather go through this poor point in my life than spend my whole life being a spoilt rich brat who didn't know the value of a dollar (and this is coming from someone who has a father who is a CEO, has a 24 hour driver, maid, all the shit)

I spend a lot of my time giving away my money to friends, but I don't actually have any. I have 76 Facebook friends, and only 4 of those know me really. I'm not inherently bad. I am not like a Tea Party idiot who loves the rich and hates social programs. I just wanted to know how it felt to be what America considers poor. I've seen African poverty, and they don't even have PCs to post on, so my definition of poor is actually doing pretty well considering we are all using internet here....

That's where I'm at now. Before I kind of chose to be poor. But where I was living at the time was expensive. I live in co and at the time I was in steamboat springs. There the average rent for a 1 bedroomw apartment is like 1200 a month. Lately life has been awesome, but about 6 to 7 months ago my roommate at the time decided to quit life over some dumb hoe. He quit his job and thought selling drugs was a good source of income. Ended up $1500 in debt to me plus god knows how much in debt to his dealer and 1.5k in debt to my home boy for breaking his custom built laptop. Bailed to California because God knows why and never paid any of us back. Came back here and still owes me 400 plus everyone else's full amount. Needless to say u may not be 'poor' but I understand the struggle. I just work my ass off to have fun and enjoy everything life has to offer. Being poor is a mind state. No matter your race, age, or position in life, if you work hard you can enjoy this shot existence. Ignore the negative things in life and focus on what makes YOU happy.

Yeah I don't count myself as being truely poor, as you said before, I have a roof, internet, good computer, there are many more people worse off than me, and I also have the notion that if shit really hits the fan and I get evicted or something, I have someone I can go to to make things better. But I generally don't like accepting money from people for no reason, so I try to resist any payouts where I can (especially from parents and friends) just hope it makes me a better person in the end, because right now I'm kind of a little lazy bitch.

Oh, my grandmother worked, bought a house. Then after a few years another, and another. She ended up with like 11 houses, and went in with 2 friends and the bank to build an apartment complex, which then turned into 4 of them in the same county in Connecticut.
Eventually after (I guess) collecting $1,000 in rent from 1000 people every month money adds up. That was in the 70's. The rent there now is $2500 or so per unit and she died in 2002, and there are 1335 tenants total. She was the last to die, and the amount of money left behind was like 190 million (or possibly more, I've never ever even seen a single actual real #).
So basically get a house ASAP, and don't be stupid and buy a single family. Buy a multi, take the smallest apartment and rent the other 2. Build credit and savings, and then do the same again, and again, and eventually the bank will know you know how to manage properties. Just don't fuck up and get bad tenants either. My grandmother said she spend more on lawyers for bad tenants than she did on cleaners for bad tenants. People just squat and then eviction laws protect them while you don't get paid.
