Well I've got the M3 and a 2008 TSX.
I'd drive either anywhere. M3 is just as mechanically-sound as the Acura if not more for all I do. And performance wise, the M3 shits all over the Acura obviously.
BMW is more rugged than the Acura and could withstand a lot more hard use, but there is a cost unless you let them go.
I tracked the M3 for 3 years prior to it even being on the road as a daily. I NOW daily and put 7 to 800 miles a week on it and it has never failed on me ASIDE from the fuel pump and a shot caliper. Luckily the FP went out while at home. I had it fixed in under an hour once I received the new pump.
I deal with a vacuum leak currently but that's it on the M3. Solid otherwise.
And as far as working on both, I swear the S54 is more straightforward than the Acura. Very simplistic design. Everything well thought out.

That's a pretty serious leak if you're having to top off that much. Do you ever see smoke or smell something burning? If not it's not your VCG. They generally leak on the exhaust side and drip on the exhaust manifold. They also leak at the half moons under your cabin air filter housing.
I don't think a VCG would leak bad enough to cause you to lose that much oil in so little time. Get that shit FIXED asap.

Between those 2? The M3. If I were wealthy, sure I admire many cars and would love to have a nice 8 bay garage at home filled with supercats but the M3 in that gen is so perfect. If it ever shits out beyond repair I'm gonna get another. I love ot that much. You just have to experience it for yourself.

Both Castrol TWS and Liquimoly 10w60 are like over $20 a liter if bought individually. I couldn't imagine losing a shitload like that for how much I drive. Seems cheaper to fix either way. It can only get worse.....
I DID battle a leak last year. The screw that held the timing chain collar from the outside of the engine backed out and caused oil to leak to the point I had some small spots on my garage floor. I got to it ASAP. Never even lost enough to have to add more oil, and this engine is sensitive as FUCK. If you're not perfectly on the full mark you get an oil low light. Even a mm down from the mark and you get the light.
Currently leak free thankfully.

The M3 isn't bad. I am anal about everything from changing fluids to adjusting valves yearly and I'm at no more than $1k or so yearly if that. My overhaul was a little over $4K but that even includes a brake job front and rear and a new OEM bumper cover. That price is OEM everything and a Mishi radiator which was 2x the cost of an OEM rad which will need replaced again.
People kill me online when they say you should budget $4k to $6k YEARLY owning an E46 M3. That is just madness. Sure if your rod bearings ever shit out, or VANOS problems disabled your engine severely (broken exhaust tabs lodging between the timing chain and chain sprocket.. you serously have to be an unlucky fuck for this to happen), or your subframe needs replaced or something but all of that is unlikely taking preventative measures.
SMG cars are costly but 6MT gearbox is not. Not a failed 6MT Getrag ever in the history of the E46 M3.
Wrenching yourself is the key to making it affordable also. Never forget that.

IF its just that that leaking.. 2k n a core exchange for an installed rebuilt engine aint bad the tranny makes noise too, some shop close buy will donthe swap with a new tranny n core for 3k so id have a new car for around 5k i had to get my control arms done so i sent it out for that it was like 19xx n went back cus of the expansion and they wanted 1400 so i was like nah niggeh my dad and I installed the new rad expansion lines and hoses sensor the whole system basically for like 800

My overhaul was about $1,300. Again, the Mishi radiator was 2x more than an OEM or OE one. I bought OEM everything else too. Aftermarket everything would have been about the same as your 330. Mine even included a new upper idler pulley and belts.
