Why do I get dandruff /b/
>I shower everyday
>Using small blob of shampoo
>Wash thoroughly
Can't be a cleanliness issue
Am i doomed to have dandruff forever?
Use a shampoo with Sacylic acid in it
There ain't no telling.
Could be too much hot water.
Could be skin condition.
Hell I was on accutane when I was younger and now I get dandruff in my eyebrows.
i dont know but u probably shouldnt ask a bunch of neckbeards with bad hygiene
It could be the type of shampoo you're using. or perhaps you're not using conditioner.
Using shampoo everyday dries your skin out and gives you dandruff
>>674482609
Dandruff is caused by buildup of dead skin flakes near the base of your follicles.
Even if you shower and use shampoo, it won't work to get rid of it.
>>You need to comb your hair, at least twice a day, for several days, to get rid of the flakes.
This, along with what you are currently doing, and you should be fine.
>>674482609
sometimes the answers just simple use Head and Shoulders it works for me just don't share your bottle with anybody and only shampoo your hair every other day or so
Head and Shoulders worked miracles on me. Also, using shampoo everyday probably isn't as good as you think. Use only hot water every two days or so. I started doing this because my scalp was ridiculously dry and it helped a lot.
>>674482609
>dandruff forever
Get selsun blue or head n shoulders.
I used to have dandruff and its all gone now
>>674482770
Don't even know what that is. Time to google
>>674482835
Too much hot water? I literally wash my hair thoroughly for ages, so this may be an issue
>>674482866
Not the best place to ask this sort of question, i grant you that.
>>674483137
I dont use conditioner
>>674483445
Great advice anon, I'll have to give this a try
>>674483462
>>674483811
Used head and shoulders before, and my dandruff was worse then ever. So its not a shampoo issue. So you are saying i should shower less regularly. Might aswell see if it helps
>>674482609
Use a clinical strength pyrithione zinc shampoo. Head and shoulders clinical strength will work. Also, get a nourishing conditioner.
>>674482609
Dandruff can be caused by a number of things.
>Wrong type of shampoo
>Washing too often
>Just have dry skin as standard
>Dermatitis
>Spend alot of time in a warm/dry environment
The most common reason is that you're just a person that has dandruff.
People renew their scalp cells frequently.
-If someones renewal rate is high 2-7 days then they will have alot of dead cells flaking off
-If their hair is thin and/or far apart the flakes will be bigger
-If they have oily skin or a skin condition then it multiplies the produced cells.
Some people just get it.
Use a shampoo designed for dandruff that moisturizes your skin, don't scratch or ruffle your hair.
Maybe try wearing lighter colour shirts/coats so it's not as noticeable.
>>674482609
Tbh I think we all get dandruff to a certain degree just some very badly compared to others and companies like head and shoulders prey on that insecurity. i have dandruff but only if I scratch my head repeadtly even then it doesn't cause snowflakes on my shirt like commercial make it out to be
Does anyone else think head n shoulders and other shampoo with pyrithione zinc smell exactly like artificial banana flavoring? I'm talking the sweet as a motherfucker candy banana.
>>674483445
Combing your hair that much will cause premature balding in the long term
>>674482609
Hi anon,
So I have the same problem, it took me 10 years to finally find a dermatologist that was worth a damn. The problem was bad, if i went one day without washing my hair, huge chunks of flakes would form. It was embarrassing as shit when i had those chunks stuck in my hair and speaking with someone. I did it all, homeopathic remedies, sacylic acid, tar, etc. The dermatologist prescribed me the following:
Clobetasol (shampoo)
Ketoconazale (foam)
>>674482609
Shave head, apply gold bond lotion, rub vigorously.
>>674484033
I actually know people who ONLY use very hot water. You honestly wouldn't be able to tell unless they told you.
>>674482609
u believed the jew and thought u needed to show every day. Research has actually proven that its bad for your skin. Showering once every few days would be better. But of course if you do happen to get really dirty, shower.
>>674482609
It might not be dandruff.
Try using tea tree oil shampoo. I had cradle cap (really just dandruff that manifests itself more apparently) and after using tea tree oil shampoo as recommended both by a dermatologist and a hair care specialist the shit went away. Sally Beauty's house "Generic" brand was what they recommended I buy, a super large bottle of it is only like $25, it smells great, and makes your hair feel like silk its totally fucking worth it.
>>674482609
change shampoo and try something new every time till u get your
If you got the balls for it, shave your head and give the skin a big hard scrub with a shower scrubber, make sure to use shampoo with the sacylic thing in it and it'll be gone the next morning
>>674482609
wash your hair 3 times a week. Use cold water only. Don't vigoursly wash, be gentle. Cut your hair shorter.
Wash your hair in dish soap before using shampoo. Two days and that shit is gone. Worked for me.
>>674484033
typically H and S will give you bad dandruf the first few times you use it. The next few times, you should see a reduction
>>674484192
I definitely guilty of washing too often, and i do lighter shirts to mask the dandruff.
>>674484812
Goin slowly bald anyway, might aswell speed up the process.
>>674484841
That is strange. I'll try and take this into account next time im in the shower.
>>674485017
I sound like a faggot, but I enjoy the feeling of being clean.
>>674485172
I will try this. My hair is pretty short anyway.
And another thing, when I walk into a change in environment. For example, walk outside into the sun and wind, my head will get pretty damn itchy. I don't know if this is a sign of dry skin or the fact that I've got dandruff, but just felt like mentioning it.
Coconut oil will help anon
>>674485270
I'll pass
>>674485464
I might give head and shoulders another go tbh. Been a while since i last used it, and it seems to work for others.
dont wash your hair every day. try once every 3. still shower just dont wash hair with soap. just rinse with water. use head and shoulders.
>>674482609
use dandruff shampoo
>>674486553
also some leave in oil conditioner like biosilk or bio-oil.
Well H&S its really bad at long term it will dry your head skin really bad if you use it regularly (almost like any other shampoo).
The best that you can do:
Dont do too much showers just do it when you feel your hair or head dirty
Use good shampoos and hair conditioner every two showers or so dont do it every day
Avoid hot water at least on your head try to clean it whith cold water if you can not fucking freezing cold just not hot.
Dont use hot hair driers
Rub your head with natural lemon juice with your fingers ( be gentle) and let it there for 10 min or so
Do the lemon juice thing and complete cleaning for a few days and when it gets controlled do it now and then
Dry your head ALWAYS avoid humidity
You should be cool with that if not go to a dermatologist
Good luck mate
>>674487013
Cheers anon. Great advice.
>>674482609
Try T-gel Daily Control, OP. My barber recommended it. Best dandruff shampoo evar.
If someone hasnt said it you are supposed to switch shampoo every few months and it helps with dandruff
>>674488365
I've heard this before but always assumed it was bullshit. How does this work?
>>674484055
It's all about the conditioner, mate. The skin on top of your head is so dried out by the daily shampoo that it's literally falling apart. Use conditioner on your scalp the same way you would use lotion on your dry hands.
>>674488680
Don't use either. I should probably get into the habit of using conditioner tbh
Nizoral shampoo.
Plus it slows hair loss.
Does your area have hard water? (dense in minerals)
I use a sulfate free Paul Mitchell 2 in 1 and it keeps my shit nice.
When I was in jail the water there is very hard so it'd dry out all my skin
>>674482609
I use zync shampoo and it goes away after a couple washes sometimes it doesnt tho (might have been my hormones causinf it or some shit) having short hair allows you to clean/scrub your scalp better
Washing your hair after you sweat really helps (if I dont I get really nasty yellow crusty dandruff)
Not washing your hair everyday with shampoo also allows your skin a break from the chemicals allowing the skins natural oil to help heal the skin
Not scratching your head is a temporary solution to stop any loose dandruff from getting stuck in your hair (this helps if you dont want to walk into a social situation with dandruff in your hair)
Only use conditioner if you feel the need to use it (generally consitiober, for my hair at least, doesnt make my hair soft or w/e, it usually is a contributing factor to my dandruff cause its hard as hell to wash out) yet I can still have my hair look decent with pomade or clay
I heard plenty of people get results from showering without shampoo every other time, but I'd say H&S with conditioner to start.
>>674482835
I get dandruff on my eyebrows as well idk why tho
To combat that I wash my face and then rub moistureriding cream in all of my face or just the eyebrows
It could be cause i have an acute case of eczema or something because if I dont wash my face or put cream on atleast a couple times a week I suffer from redness and flaking around my T section and around my mouth (moustache area and side of the mouth)
>>674482609
Use Head and Shoulders /b/ro. No more shoulder snow.
>>674482609
It's dry skin. Stop wetting your hair every day.
Also moisturize. I find that deep conditioning with coconut oil an hour before going in the shower helps a lot.
>>674482609
You get dandruff from a dry scalp. Stop using shampoo every day. Use it once every 3 or 4 days. I use shampoo once or twice a week and my scalp is dandruff free and my hair is silky
Try head and shoulders.
I used to have a dandruff issue and since changing over haven't had any problems.
>>674490329
Not op
Ut personally H&S isnt that great for me idk why considering the active ingredient, zync, is in the shampoo that works for me
I use redkin shampoo
>>674490204
Also if it gets reallt bad in some spots of my scalp ill use moisturing cream in thos spots aswell before I go to sleep or in the morning after a shower before I style my hair
>>674482609
shampoo is a racket.
Why de-grease, then add chemical grease (conditioner)
Your body produces all the grease it needs.
try not using for a week or two.
scrub hair as usual, but without shampoo.
you will notice a positive difference.
>>674484625
Only listen to this guy. Go to the dermatologist and get medication.
>>674484625
>>674491765
This sounds like a very serious case. Probably not applicable to OP. That he was prescribed ketoconazole tells me he had a fungal infection.
>>674485745
I had terrible dandruff when I was younger.
The best thing for it is shampoo containing pine tar or tea tree oil. Both are natural effective treatments of the scalp, and no funky chemicals. You can get them at Walmart, or drug or health food stores.
I have something like this.
Dematologist said it was either sun burnt scalp, or some kind of egzema.
He perscribed a variety of shampoos, some work better than others.
You know what kills it though? Getting a good regular sweat going on from a workout, or whatever. A good sweat and its gone for almost 3 weeks it seems.
At this point, im convinced it's some kind of karma punishment for being sedentary.
>>674492082
it was pretty bad, I'm in the Army and at times I go without washing my head for days. The itch got so bad i broke skin and bled.
>>674483462
Exactly this! I have lived with dandruff my whole life. as long as I follow this routine I have no flakes.
>>674482609
just use selson blue, stuff works like magic
>>674492461
I hate it when that happens cause it still itched but u already at like the bottom layer of skin and when it heals it skips and health stage of skin and goes straight to yellow crust
I'm so happy I have great skin and scalp and don't have to deal with this #blessed
>>674485983
>>674482609
pyrithione zinc. Try head and Shoulders, but get the anti-dandruff version
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinc_pyrithione
Use a shampoo with Selenium Sulfide, or shave your head, or both. You might otherwise want a shampoo/conditioner that helps moisturize your scalp.
>>674485068
Tea Tree Oil has been shown to shrink the testicles of rats and decreases testosterone production.
No thanks bruh
>>674483320
This - take a day or two off every now and again. Don't go full dirty Euro and stop cleaning all together, but your body produces natural oils. Sounds like you're drying out your skin. And use a dandruff shampoo.
>>674484033
Shampoo with lotion i mean shampoo mixed with lotion.. I got buzz cut but what i do is i put lotion where it goes and whatever is left over i put on my head i noticed i was getting dandruff too and started going away with that
Drink more water you stupid faggot, you are dehydrate.
