It's a manga that's been running for 20+ years now, and it's pretty incredible. One of the things that's most interesting about it, is that the author has basically reinvented himself in his style several times throughout the series, while still keeping it true to its roots. During the first 10 volumes (referred to collectively as the "Golden Age" arc), it's basically gritty 80s style manga of purely dark medieval warfare, becoming borderlined historical fiction. but in volumes 11-12+ literally hell opens up and pours itself onto earth evil dead style but in a completely serious manner. Over the next ~5 volumes you have every bit of bad in his world corrupted and risen to full blown demonic rape-fests; corrupt priests burning everyone at the stake, packs of roving goblins kidnapping women, raping and impregnating them to make more monsters, an evil god-emporer who tries to take over the world etc. It then turns into a traditional swords/sorcery fantasy where Guts assembles a team of rag-tag heroes to destroy the five God Hands of hell, one of whom was his best friend and rival during the Golden Age.

Watched new Konosuba and really glad that it got a S2 announcement at the end of it, just gotta wait until we find out when it actually airs I suppose. Watched new Phantom as well but I wish I just dropped that ages ago because it just drains the energy out of me to even watch it now, gotta watch Dimension W and stuff so gonna go do that now, you?
I liked the movies. The fight scenes were legit as fuck. This is coming from someone who thinks anime is pretty garbage in a general sense so it's high praise. I'll never read the manga though. Fuck that shit

I'm not saying I don't want to read this manga. I'm saying I won't read manga in general. I can never shake the book that these are just picture books for manchildren. I don't care if you call them comics, manga, graphic novel. They're all the same to me. I read 300 and Watchmen and I just consider them a waste of time. I like the art sometimes but I prefer books

Alright, I'll give it more thought.
Even thought HO has been following the same routine since episode one, I still don't get bored of it. Same was with Aldnoah Zero not too long ago, but that was pretty mediocre in its own right.

It takes a lot for me to even enjoy an anime. Part of me hates myself for even trying it since I dated this girl who was really into anime hardcore and she was just cringeworthy. I hated when she talked about it.
That said, I gave a few a chance and liked the 3 Berserk movies, Attack on Titan and most of all Redline.
