Explain to me what is wrong with any form of socialism

niggers lol

Nothing at all. Except maybe for some of the shit Stalin did. Even though its debatable that he even did anything wrong, or if it was even considers socialism
>>
Eventually you run out of other peoples' money.

The people control the means of production
Socialism requires a command system, therefore leads to lack of individual freedom

TL;DR If your a faggot that wants the government to make all of its decisions for you and you lack the ability to exercise free will, then Socialism is for you.

I heard this reply before. Where did it come from? It doesn't make any sense if you actually think about it.

Taxes are how the government gets money. That's how it's always worked. You could say that the US runs on "other people's money" currently, and always has. We clearly haven't run out.

Socialism just spreads wealth around more by giving more control to a central organization to redistribute wealth, or use it for the public good (roads, hospitals, subsidies for green energy, whatever). It's not like it's going to run out of money, because it's going to get its income exactly the same way.

Quips like that are nice and all, but too often they become ingrained replies, causing people to not actually think about whether those replies make any sense.

Socialism is too idealistic, and not based in reality. Until human culture changes to be more about the community rather than the self, socialism will fail. But if this is a commentary about Sanders, because I'm sure many people will make it, I'm not sure how increasing taxes by (2%?) for one tax bracket is socialism. Not to mention he wants to actually remove government from some areas such as abortion. Maybe this is more info than you wanted; you kinda sparked a thought, sorry, maybe someone else wants to comment?

>"Abolishes the class system" and replaces it with another hierarchy of the state.
>Creates a monopoly
>easy to abuse; once the state has absolute power, it has no way to be kept in line if the single party in charge becomes corrupt.
>prone to stagnation.
>lack of consumer goods to bolster economy.
>the "everybody must share" rule must be enforced with an iron fist, leading to an authoritarian state.
>Ignores human nature of competition with the lie "everybody is the same".

I could go on.

You might answer>
>>674294403
This^. I agree with you. I hear a lot of generic answers like the one you commented on, and I'm really confused as to why people think increasing one tax bracket by a minor amount is socialism. I mean, democratic socialism literally just means, "Government backs off and becomes better controlled by the people", right?

>>674294718
Do you think there is any nation at some point in time that could have made socialism work? Maybe a more community-oriented nation?
>>
>>674293483
Maybe because we actually care what they spend it on
>>
>>674294403
I dunno; I see your point with humans mostly being selfish, or at least selfish for their own "tribal group", a well-implemented socialist system should take this sort of thing into account. The problem is more one of actually putting it into practice, since people (at least in the US) are really resistant to the idea of supporting other people and raising taxes. But the culture doesn't have to be about the community for socialism to /work/, the government just gets support through a tax structure, which everyone's required to pay into.

Except, of course, the rich people who find tax loopholes. That's another thing that needs to be fixed.

Most of these issues are really problems with more of a communist society, rather than a socialist one. A good socialist system should fully support business and individual rights.

Not sure what you mean. Could you clarify?

It's easy to discard every single negative thing about socialism if you claim that everyone that ever made it look bad was not a TRUE socialist.

Stalin wasn't a true socialist. Socialism != communism. If you want to look at socialism, look at a country like Denmark, or France, or some of those other European countries. Hell, even Canada is basically socialist at this point. They all work really well, and while they're obviously not 100% comparable to the US, we can adapt what they're doing to our specific situation. It's certainly better than what we have now.
