I have found that lasers are good for practice and awkward shooting practice. But in real life shooting they are less than useless.... At close self defense range you will hit your target blind without even aiming with your eyes...

I've actually thought about a Taurus. I know their semi-autos are hit and miss, but I hear their revolvers are pretty nice.
For a snub nose, my understanding is that .357 is kind of a waste. The barrel isn't long enough to burn the additional powder so you don't gain much velocity, just get a big fire ball.
