That's just totally innacurate, especially when considering blades with a forward curve like a falcata or kopis, which were chopping weapons and routinely used against armed and armored opponents. Its really only chainmail that gives thin thrusting weapons an edge (no pun intended). Also, almost all back curved blades have the top 6 to 10 inches of blade sharpened on both sides meaning they thrust just fine. They also give you better attack geometry than a straight blade

but I must admit adding full tang and handguard while making the knife less comfortable for long hours of work makes it far more useful as last resort weapon. Adding rifle mounts and wire cutter make it even more useful
