I think I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that I never will get a straightforward answer. I'm now left to assume that the only reason someone would enjoy this is because unlike regular gore threads, this is all make-believe and something that anyone can put themselves in. It's a way for sad, pathetic individuals to escape from the reality of their lives into a fantasy world where they hold all the power and can brutally murder cute animals.
