>>673404580
Just go watch the entire cornetto trilogy you faggot
Any movies about cold-war theme?
>>673405684
i found it to be one of lynch's easier films to get into, this doesn't mean it's worse than the others, quite the opposite in fact. it looks awesome, the acting is good and the soundtrack is fantastic. it can really draw you in and it's worth every penny. plus: patricia arquette
this movie was way better than i was expecting it to be
>>673406208
Yeah I first heard the soundtrack and thought that the movie must be worth it if the album is that fucking good
>>673406122
Dr Strangelove is the movie you are looking for
>>673403225
And make sure to watch the directors cut
>>673406122
Red Dawn?

>>673408968
I think it's just an idea right now but it could potentially happen. The Rock wants to do it and the previous director is on board with it.
>>673407631
made me love light eyes
this one is also pretty good
>>673405361
overrated
>>673408825
I've known about it for a while. Will not being seeing it.
The Rock is a fun actor but in no way capture the character of Jack Burton (Everyman hero.) at all.
>>673408825
His son should play Jack Burton
>>673409415
I will probably go see it but I do agree with you on The Rock. It would be hard as hell to find someone comparable to Kurt Russel for that role.
>>673409003
pffff .. i dont think so mate
Read the book Shogun
>>673409637
Chris Pratt
One of the best war movies I've seen in a while.

>>673408604
>>673403225
>>673409836
Actually that's not a bad idea but I would still be on the fence about that.
>>673409003
shitty appropriation movie.
>>673410239
I'm not dying about a remake, but, it would need to be someone like Pratt to pull it off. He usually leaves his ego at the door.
>>673411010
I'm kind of biased because my ex loved Chris Pratt and I got kind of Pratted out by the end of it. Which sucks because I really liked the guy before that. I think he would have good potential for the role though.
>>673403225

>>673406600
skip this, go for scanner darkly, anything based off philip k dick rocks, this one totally misses the mark. check out the book, it'll make you feel like a fool, and then 5th element does what this movie does, but better.
>>673407158
the thing!
>>673420422
Wut? no. BTW i hate that man as an actor 99 percent of what he's in.
>>673406628
Which Red Dawn?
The older original
Or
The 2014 version With Josh Peck?
If you don't mind low budget stuff watch this. Great performance from a relative unknown actor.
Dead man's shoes.
>>673420671
goldeneye was classic, i loved mrs.doubtfire, and sitting bull wasn't bad.
goldeneye was classic james bond, probably one of the best, it was one part conerry one part dolton, one part moore

I just watched this last night.
Pretty good.

>>673420521
Blade Runner was good for its time. A lot of the dirty mega-cities with asian themes has been done to death as a result of this.
Scanner Darkly sucked massive donkey balls.
Bringing Out the Dead
>>673421008
He's my least favorite bond except lazenby. Mr's doubtfire was good in spite of him and i don't think i've seen sitting bull. There's just something about him i don't like.
One of my all time favorites
>>673420973
Beyond fucking incredible...Patty!!!
>>673409003
this is one of the most amazing stories, but the movie didn't do bad. no one really knows what happens and i thought what they did with this movie was interesting. the video game Way of the Samurai, i think was based off the same story.
>>673421065
Why? Kinda curious why you don't like it. If you can explain without spoilers. I thought it was one of the best movies i've ever seen.
>>673420503
ugh, you're just bad at movies. the movie is suppose to be predictable or else it's a badly laid movie. it's suppose to build the expectations, you want unpredictable watch tv shows.
>>673421269
Kill yourself
>>673421150
And Tom hardy apparently, that man is a chameleon.
One of my all time favorites
>>673421414
Who wants to know exactly what will happen at the end of a movie? If a movie can surprise me the whole way through and still be good i give it props. Once you've seen alot of movies the same old shit becomes boring. What's your top movie? The Avengers?
>>673421402
Shitty acting by the lead, with a huge side of no fucking way sci-fi & coincidence... not to mention It suffers from the kinda plot holes that come with time travel stories
>>673421188
it was closer to the source... blade runner was just a lot of money for style, this is after star wars had 2 movies, and was following this trend but modernizing it, poorly. missing all the key concepts, but making in turn all movies want to be the same gritty shitty style that we saw until the matrix.
if anything it's just a rip of Alien. That movies sound stage was used in so many movies of the 80's. So really, just watch Alien.
It's such a slow movie, and out of style with so many movies, it's usually blamed for the horror movie genre as we know it. it's was a sci-fi movie that followed the motif of a western, that turns monster survival.
but what do i know, you gave a pretty good argument too.
>>673421815
actually yeah, it's up there with MAN FROM UNCLE and GOLDENEYE
"Rain or shine, all is mine"
better than that shitty LEague of extraordinary gentlemen.
>>673421973
Eh, disagree but to each his own. Is there a time travel movie you think did it "right"?
>>673403225
If you actually believe that Mad Max 2 is better than the original Mad Max, you're fucking deluded.
>>673421815
I allow movies to show me what is coming next, I don't spend time trying to figure out a simple problem that can only come down to a conclusion. I look for the message, not the solution. Movies are an expression, not an equation.
Just watch Human Traffic faggot.
>>673422390
That's actually a decent movie i was talking about the superhero one.
>>673422422
nope, that was primer
they used almost every minute of footage, it's very natural feeling.
>>673407362
That movie had an interesting setting, but the execution was so fucked up I feel (or I was born in the wrong time to fully appreciate it).
Still, pretty nice fist fight scene.
>>673422527
Both types can be good. I just enjoy ones that make me think.
>>673414110
i fapped to the woman shower scene as a kid
>>673422714
joss whedon fan, it was a well paced movie, good share of characters (except for hawkeye) that had great comedic timing, that felt a bit loose in the start, tightens up in the middle, but then it ends with just glorified action scene at the end, which is really all i wanted in the movie, so yeah, 9/10, saw it opening day, didn't listen to any critics, loved it.
It was a well written movie, with strong characters. it was interesting seeing it play out
SPOILER, i knew they would defeat loki in the end, still doesn't beat that feeling watching hulk beat the shit outta him.
Great one from le doubles guy that i hardly hear anyone talk about.
>>673423017
You're one of those guys who can just be fed the same old formula over and over and like it i guess.
>>673413052
Cronenberg's Crash was far better.
>>673407362
Social commentary at its' finest
>>673422859
if movies are an equation you gotta understand, it's a very simple solution, this is why breaking bad was taken so highly, you could twist a mystery over an entire season (like the plane crash season 2) and it works. to do that in a movie, you have to have NO IDEA what the movie is.
I've had that happen watching the movie network, and saw The Chair on it, not knowing it was a horror movie, and found it fun to watch.
but when you see movies, you know how a horror movie will end, a spy movie, any action movie, the really cerbral movies like Barton Fink only end with a twist because really, you shouldn't have any idea what happened, and they have the least amount of mesage in them.
good art is rated by it's social commentary, that's what makes art have meaning.
without a social commentary art is meaningless.
you might disagree, but that's what a lot of action/romance movies are. even a action movie can have a statement.
>>673423219
>sandler
>good movie
>not comedy
pick one
>>673423230
seconded
>>673422729
Yhea i liked primer too.
>>673403225
Leon: the Professional
> International cut, not the pussified US version.
>>673423230
well, it's like classical music, they all follow the same formula but deviate. the nuance is how they deviate, or even follow along it. and no, i am not that sort of guy, The Avengers, was a well done movie, if only the big problem is it has a weak ending, they still do the best they can. I mean Iron Man not caring for anyone else but himself is the start of the Civil War, but him taking the nuke to space, is even commented on in later movies as a source of PTSD is the really only change that occurs in the movie, and they play it as a big change.
beyond that it's a character piece, that doesn't have much development.
still not often you get to see such cool cgi. I am a hulk fan, so it was the best hulk movie to date...
Here's one that most of you haven't seen.
Truly excellent film.
>>673405753
The movie wasnt that great, tv series isnt half bad

yeah,..too bad this movie came out the exact same time as Star Wars 7 did.
>>673405753
better version of the movie, based in a bit better science.
besides those drugs exist, nootropics. they have little to no side effects.
robert downey jr is awesome in this
>>673423425
I somewhat agree but i don't think a movie has to have a message necessarily to be good. And some movies can have a message and be utter shit. Like the Rocky Horror Picture Show, (i know alot of people like it) it has tons of message, but i found it to be shit.
m00nsp@cetv dot cum
tons of channels, tons of movies playing 24/7, chatroom, its well fun.
>>673403225
You see the awards this bitch one
>>673422422
Not really, theres always the grandfather paradox thats just there to fuck em up but ultimately ignored so that the story can be told... predestination has that moment and if you pull the thread the whole story comes apart
>>673424338
except she turns into a fucking usb stick at the end. shit tier film.
>>673423915
she was like 9 in that film you fucking freak
>>673424283
It also didn't get a very wide release. I had to downloaded it. I'll buy the DVD when it hits the shelf and hope they make more as planned.
The name of the rose.
>>673423876
Not really, maybe if theres a squeal
>>673424338
Fuck that movie.
It's just another "Akira" rip-off movie, because Holly-jews don't have the balls to front the money to do an actually adaption of the REAL source material.
Scar-Jo is hot, still so fappable. But acts like a robot in the whole film, not her best work.
...and then there's the typical Morgan Freeman typecast.
>>673424431
i know a lot of people don't think it needs a message to be good, but that's not really understanding. That's those stupid art films that are all style, no message. just random juxtaposition hoping that it means something.
this isn't saying messages MAKE GOOD MOVIES either, but it's said that all good art has a message. it's that simple.
it's something small that boosts the appreciation of a movie.
Shutter Island would have been just a good mystery if not for that ONE LINE AT THE END before the ending.
that one line added a lot of meaning and depth to a movie you would have loved for it's mystery. to me it was the message. it just cleansed the movie of it's sins.
>>673404077
This.
>>673424797
Yheaaa. Anyone know the name of the Jack Nicholson movie where he forces this blonde to let him go down on her? Saw parts of it when i was a kid but know even when i search his list of movies i can't find it.
>>673424882
how many Akira rip-offs are there???
Also the Director went into a lot of effort to try to find as much source material as possible, not there's a lot to work with, but the behind the scens shows interviews with some top minds in the field too.
it's sort of a mix of a movie.
Although I do love Akria, it's been long enough, I wants me some rip-offs of that.
>>673424882
Thats whats up
>>673424857
They've stated that there will be more. Don't know what their time schedule is.
>>673424549
ugh... yeah... well.... don't remind me, still was cool until then.
>>673425238
Bring em! without, what a waste of a character.
>>673423017
i'll never forgive joss whedon for alien: resurrection. ruined that franchise until isolation revived it
every james bond movie, ever.
just the best.
>>673419571
The guy holding the map shot himself irl before they made a sequel.
>>673403225
If anyone likes spaghetti western here's a gem you may have never seen.
>>673425558
i hate when people say that, when aliens3, killed it off, if anything joss resurrected it. you know not what you speak of, but just read from online.
alien3 was a horrible failure from every angle possible, and joss experience in that is probably what gave us FireFly and Serenity, so I aint even mad bro, because that gave us Avengers.
>>673425723
Mad Max fan, never liked the first film. it just didn't have the same style as 2 and 3
>>673425675
I like all the old ones more. Never was a fan of Brosnan and the current ones... what happened to bond's charm and pussy chasing? What happened to all the ambitious action scenes with fucking shit flying people dying chaos happening everywhere.
>>673425885
Yup, all true...the new star wars did the same thing whedon did...its an homage film.
>>673425885
also Aliens4 gave us AvP which wasn't terrible, but wasn't as bad. Predators probably came out from it still...
>>673426063
2 and 3 had way better action scenes. 1 is way darker and has more of a message.
>>673425885
resurrection is one of the worst piece of shit movies i have ever seen. he took one of the best horror/thriller franchises of all time, and tried to turn it into a quirky band of space pirate cracking zingers because that's the only thing that fucking uncreative physical embodiment of reddit can write
>>673426063
It was the start of it all, law trying to hold it together in the face of madness and the looming end of Society
>>673426424
Except for maybe the shotty silencer. This is one of the most realistic movies i have ever seen. There's no "yhea like that would ever fucking happen" moments. To me at least.
>>673426259
1 was ridley scott's master piece that changed cinema history. JAmes Cameron's Aliens was as action packed as most of the movies he's done, fincher's Alien 3 was terrible.
At best the action should have been sooner... wait you saw the directors cut.
if you were like me and saw the original cut, it was crap. The animatronics were terrible, the only alien in it was a dog, or something, the editing was bad, the scenes were too dark, the pioneers with her were forgettable characters, at least alien4 felt like it was a set up for a TV show. That's what I was hoping for back in the 90's
>>673425675
every single one? are you that autistic?
>>673425123
>how many Akira rip-offs are there???
Lucy
Chronicle
....those are the more direct rip-offs of Akira.
Movies like Dark City, Looper, even Limitless, take the main themes of Akira and pervert it for US audiences.
>>673426424
Literally watching this right now. A perfect movie, as it were.
>>673426705
I think you misclicked bro.
>>673406600
oh look, its another overrated 80s shit tier movie
>>673426410
yeah, kinda, it's like showing a ghetto in new york, then nuclear apoc, and all the water dries up, and THEN you can say that the crime from new york was the reason all water disappeared.
not really, so no real continuity. but it had a good sequel. Mad Max wouldn't be known if not for Road Warrior. It's how it is, hard to understand now looking back.
not a bad movie, but that was back in australia's heyday of amazing crazy films.
>>673426733
Pretty solid...a little too romantic at times but solid. The reactor scenes are pretty wild.
>>673426655
shotguns can have silencers, it was a slug gun, not buck shot, but the sound was wrong, but that was still what was used IRL.

Good movie. After watching it, whenever I saw something stupid IRL I'd be like "omg it's like idiocracy lolololollolll!!!!!!!"

she becomes part of everything, mind and body, and can create or manipulate matter as she wants.
So she created a usb stick for them with information
>>673427225
this follows the trend of shitty time travel movies, but still good acting, terrible use of time travel.....
sigh, it bugs me a lot i can't even watch. when you're from the people that seen dragon ball z do it successfully, it hurts. that's not even a high wall to jump, but hollywood, can schedule thousands of people to film a movie, but not enough to draw a timeline, seems so shoddy work. might as well say Premonitions.
The new Terminator : Salvation was a better time travel movie, or even Star Trek and Star Trek into darkness.
>>673407158
Fuck yes
>>673427432
aaaaaand that's why i hate idiocracy

First time I saw it I found it more annoying than funny. The more and more I thought about it, the more and more funny it got. Finally rewatched and not only loved it but caught a lot of jokes I missed the first time.
There's some less-bold stuff mixed in there.

>at least alien4 felt like it was a set up for a TV show. That's what I was hoping for back in the 90's
good god, you have no respect for the franchise, then. and of course it seemed like a tv show, joss whedon wrote it. that's not a good thing. tv is an altogether lower tier
Beyond Thunderdome!

Its a great movie but most people already saw it.
The recent one isnt that bad either, although I kinda dislike the actor (the female villain agent is played by the fucking hottest milf in the planet though).

I dont get your math...in mad max, the world was circling the drain, so much so Road Warriors were needed and normal, somewhere after that but before Road Warrior the nukes had dropped
All the Pierce Brosnan Bond's

it's one reason i love the movie so much.

not anymore, TV is really where a lot of people are turning too. Breaking Bad alone proves TV is lower Tier.
Vs Twilight, and 50 Shades and Hunger Gamers, you got Netflix with its Series. House of Cards, Orange is new black, even the Dusk till Dawn, they're not terrible, but it's the start of a new rise.
Still better then the new Ghostbusters.
>>673424805
This is a very good one.

>>673420973
This is is definitely in my top 50 all-time
>>673428641
what movie would you watch,
Mr. P. R. Fect?
>>673424805
Fucking nice rec, anon. Underrated movie, honestly made me feel like I was in medieval Europe.
>>673428425
>they aren't pieces of shit
Gran Torino. Fucking amazing film, totally not what I expected going in and that made it all the better.
>>673427568
why are you the authority on what does time travel right? it doesn't fucking exist. and there are different ways to write it that are theoretically consistent in themselves (which is all that actually matters), but of course none of them are truly "doing it right" because time travel is fucking impossible and all of them break causality one way or another. i didn't see any errors in the universe looper set up for itself. predestination, either
>>673428757
NO
>>673428788
Absolute crap imo
>>673428641
Would you please recommend a movie or book or song or any other art form from the future so we're not so nostalgic
>>673428289
OF all time? It was a movie that made no sense. It set-up a lot of sci-fi space movies, but still Fritz Lang's Metropolis still tops it.
It's why people think Blade Runner is so good. The TV show Star Trek is better in a lot of ways other then it's simplistic style that Aliens did better too.
There's almost nothing amazing about the movie, other then the fact it was successful in it's release. It was like most other movies at the time, meaningless visuals, just it was more accurate of it's future predictions. slightly.

If you want god-tier Bond films you need to start with Thunderball.
>>673428891
Lol
>>673428757
Goldeneye and Die Another Day were good, the rest were forgettable, but that's Bond for ya.
>>673428625
ooo
>>673429018
bah Metropolis isn't even top 10 Lang
>>673404462
fucking LOVE this movie, it's so sweet and just incredible-looking.
>>673429048
>>673423763
>god tier movies thread
>suggest deity tier movie
just what in the heck do you think you're doing buster
>>673404790
this movie is 1000x better than it has any right to be, very funny shit!
>>673429082
That neck is my nightmare
One of my favourite movies
>>673429120
>Goldeneye and Die Another Day were good
False
>Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies was good
Fixed
Tomorrow Never Dies was the best Brosnan Bond film... and that's a fact
Repo man.
>>673405361
Meh. It's... OK.
>>673428511
sure there are plenty of shit movies, but the best shows are nothing compared to the best movies. all of those shows you listed are bad except the first few seasons of breaking bad and the first season of house of cards. then they got bad. know why? because they're tv shows. they kept going when they should have quit while they were ahead
>>673405684
Fantastic movie. Not as good as MULHOLLAND DRIVE, but still goddamned solid.
>>673403225
Watch it with the subs only. DO NOT WATCH THE DUB
>>673428788
>Gran Torino. Fucking amazing film
Agreed
>>673429244
Still better than this bullshit
>>673403225
Best thing I've ever seen.
>>673406524
FUCK. YES!!!
>>673429466
Yep, also animes biggest failing. Lost actually kept me going all the way through but i'm not going to defend it. I totally realize why anyone would get fed up with it at some point.
>>673407158
A goddamn piece of genius, this film is. <3 x 1000!
>>673429484
Anything by Cronenberg is worth watching.
If you haven't seen Maps To The Stars, I'd highly recommend it.
>>673429566
Nice dubs
>>673429537
Yeah, if you're a sick ass sadist
>>673403526
the web content is good, but their movies are shit. they just aren't funny guys unless they're reviewing other movies with a ton of plot holes and continuity errors
>>673429610
A masterpeice.
>>673429566
you talkin to me?
>>673428827
time travel is what we do every single second of the day.
it's called causality. a leads to b leads to c, it's maybe the only thing TRUE in the world, but it also equates the same backwards, in reverse order. Causality is seen as more real than matter and energy in the universe.
anything else is a flawed model. We know how consistent causality works. it's how we tell time. after 2 o'clock comes 3 o'clock, and backwards, the reverse.
the only logical ways of time travel is the parallel universe(new timeline), or the linear universe (everything happened has happened before) or the self correcting universe (where things happen to correct itself like a zero checksum)
>>673429869
Yup
>>673429610
yhea that was fucking great
>>673407362
This one never gets old. You know, Roddy Piper was pretty fucking good, he could have had a much more solid career as an actor. Don't know why his roles were so few and far between. Based on this (amazing!) movie, he had a natural knack for it.
>>673429598
Hahahahahaha, I honestly think it was this scene that made the Bond producers rethink the franchise, and take it more of a realist direction
>>673429562
Mulholland Drive fucking sucked
>>673409003
No.
Just no.
>>673427666
its only logical if you think about it really
what should she create instead?a futuristic storage device that we cant decipher?
it seems cheap at first ut really it just makes sense
>>673407362
Watched this last weekend with my daughter. She loved the fuck out of it
>>673428107
he* no idea, havnt seen the movie
>>673410838
Honestly one of the sweetest, most understated (not underrated) films of all time. Amazing performances and one hell of a killer soundtrack. 100% recommended.
>>673430007
But... it didn't
>>673429975
I had it chalked up to the success of the Bourne Identity. After that movie came out, you started seeing a bunch that were just like it, and I definitely feel like they tailored Casino Royale to be more like it. Although Casino Royale is one of the best Bond films to date.
>>673429422
Even though I rate Goldeneye higher than Tomorrow Never Dies, I'll agree to disagree anon, The World Is Not Enough was boring, and Die Another Day speaks for itself
>>673408512
This and that other great movie with the interdimenional antenna and the bdsm scenes
what's it called....
