For reals, though, I remember drawing cars and fighter planes projected and in perspective in first grade while the others were drawing flattened rectangles. It's just that mine were quite awful, and to have been good, I was supposed to draw rectangles with smooth sides, not complex, projected objects through a drunken filter, because projection wasn't in the Plan till years later. There was zero encouragement and development of what you were strong at back in the day. Also, they didn't halt and repeat if someone was being bad at arts, but if someone sucked at math, everyone had to wait till the one person gets it. So, while the slowest of the bunch were memorizing multiplication tables, there was a lot of doing nothing for those of us who got shit intuitively.
So, basically, the artsy people got it easy.
