You can buy it online but it would ship to a local gun shop, where you would create a paper trail to your name. Legally pretty much nothing. If you get caught with an item that the officer deems is being carried to be used as a weapon you can be arrested. If you're really worried you could a) learn to fight b) carry an knife and hope to fuck you don't get stopped
You could look into weighted knuckle gloves (also called sap gloves), legal to own but not legal to carry without good reason (i.e. working in security). They're mostly defensive, but they'll give a punch a bit more weight (literally) and they're quite subtle if you get the type with the metal powder in pouches on the knuckles rather than the type that have these chunks of metal sticking off everywhere

The other anon was asking why brass knucks were illegal, because they are dangerously cheap and also disposable. I'd not toss my gaulntlets unless they get chewed up by road rash other destroyed in a SHTF scenario. Although, after cruising the website, I've now created a wishlist and plan on buying a full suit of chain and plate plus sharpened weapons for display. And, also, SHTF scenario, preferably zombies considering that if bullets defeated plates all those years ago they'll still do it now. Teeth will have no effect. Plus, it's great for halloween.
