In the Bible, it says to not treat anyone as a god so on birthdays people are treated better than others so it's against our beliefs. Also birthdays in the Bible were always bad so we believe God doesn't like birthdays.

If it's confusing on how I can believe in Christianity and not call myself a Christian, allow me to explain.
I grew up in the church and was always raised to do as your told. As I got older and my critical thinking engaged, I began to ask why. Now, Christianity made perfect sense and there was all the possible philosophical evidence for it to be the one only truth. It wasn't that that I questioned. Rather, I began to question my parents, more specifically my father, as I began to get older. After my brother left the house, my dad focused all his attention on me and came down on me like a ton of bricks. He rode my case ever since. I could never seem to hold to and keep the tenants of the Christian faith like I know I should and rather than drag the name of God through the dirt by living a sinful life while professing to be a follower of His, I merely separated myself. I now simply say that Christianity is the truth, but I am too damaged to follow it. I am doomed to eternal punishment, but I will always push others to move towards the Gospel. It contains the ultimate truth. Some of us just can't fight anymore...

That's true about the popular Western Taoism that's been slowly taking root among some Westerners, but Taoism as practised by the Chinese is a full-fledged religion.
I was actually a bit disappointed when I got into (Chinese) Taoism and found it's full of gods, spirits and local heroes (some of them borrowed from Buddhism even), not to mention beliefs I found ridiculous relating to qi and qigong and dietary practices to supposedly live longer.
