I agree 100%, Chaos of Forms is the perfect balance of catchy melodic structure and unique riff and texture. The self titled one they released afterwards was alright but Deathless was a little to drawn out in its Death Metal influences. Gonna also note I hate that Ash Pearson is their new drummer.

I find to have less drop jaw moments where you just shake your head and mouth "wow" in every new album. Granted though, I think Empire of the Obsxene is fantastic (yeah I know it's older but it's betterrrrr) and Existence is Futile too, but... I don't know the magic's just lost. I think they might be producing stuff too quickly for their own good.

These guys are pretty under-rated. Most people think of them as the "Jackass" band that's associated with Bam. But they have some pretty kickass songs. Their guitar riffs are awesome. Shame that the band is in shambles at this point, and the lead singer is a douche.

Don't get me wrong, I like Ash as a drummer. His work in 3 Inches of Blood was great, however, I just feel like he is just covering what is Phil's drumming and that's it. We'll just have to wait and see with the new record to see his unique input to the recipe but I would've loved for them keep Alex Rudinger instead. His accents and technical drumming seemed perfect to me. I don't know if you seen his drum cam covers but they are insane

Ah I see what you're saying. Phil was amazing and typified what the drums should be for the band, and has kind of pigeonholed Ash into what he's "supposed to play" for the band. Phil was almost a bit samey sometimes, and you're looking for a bit of flair, see the drums get into the mix rathr than just the guitars (and now bass), but would it be too much? The drums (and to some extent the vocals) are what really grounds the band and keeps them in check, kind of like how someone once explained how Lifeson keeps Rush grounded while the bass and drums fly all over the map.

Advance and Vanquish is by far the best 3IoB album, however, they get old REALLY fast. I don't know if it's tempo similarities or the attack but you will probably get through 5 songs before you wanna listen to something else. Fire Up the Blades is also pretty decent, same issues though.
