Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star. Those are the only 2 I remember watching when I was younger. But there was this one Gundam show (I know there were lots) I think the main characters were kids, and they lived on this floating space island thing with a huge bubble canopy or whatever, but Gundams were always fucking shit up. I used to like that show but never could understand why they were blowing up their spaceship island thing. I think it can on Toonami early 2000s It wasnt the original Gundam. It followed like a sister and brother around mostly. Anyway those are the only 3 I ever got into.

It might take long but it has the most compelling story Ive ever witnessed in anime/manga.
The characters have a lot of depth, and the show is just pure epicness (for lack of a better term sorry)
Out of all the popular shounen manga like Naruto, DBZ, BleaCH, Yu Yu Hakusho, etc, it has the most depth, and takes its time to explain EVERYTHING. It doesnt feel rushed and retarded (Naruto). It holds a deeper meaning, you watch the characters grow and get stronger. You go from watching Luffy lose his teammates to Kuma while in tears because he was completely powerless, to seeing him defeat a pacifista in a single punch.
Everything is connected, its fucking beautiful.
Although the anime now is complete fucking bullshit, I fail to see how the manga is not atleast a 9/10.

I remember this one when Sci-Fi Channel (SyFy now) first started doing their "Adventures in Japanimation" (Yeah, many didn't call it anime yet back then.) back in '92, I think.
It was only a once a year type of thing until they started doing it Saturday nights in... '95-ish.
Robot Carnival was, IIRC, one of their first or second year entries. My favorite was also the "Tale of Two Robots" short.
Adventures in Japanimation was great for it's time. Introduced people here to Akira, Vampire Hunter D, Project A-Ko etc.
