i do like fur that actually looks plush and warm, as opposed to the slick cartoon like fur most people tend to put on their furries. I wonder why the more "realistic" styles of blotch/black/tegan are not more popular. They seem to be a very much niche product in a sea of smooth bodied toon like critters with strange coloration and patterns.
i gripe about this thing a lot though and im sure I sound like a skipping record.

I think the main reason why so few artists really draw fur as fur is, that it takes a lot of work and skill to make it look like that. It requires quite some detail, which they don't want to put in.

while i can see that i have a very Victorian influenced preference in my art. Back when realism in texture, shading, and lighting was the sign of a great work. The emotions it conveyed were secondary. That said i cannot point the fingers at the artists since i lack the ability to produce art of any quality. If it cannot be drawn with a ruler and premade stencils and curves from a compass its just not going to be produced by my hands(given how bad i am at art, they may as well be paws)
