I'm not a soldier, but I do have PTSD. My father and I were doing some repairs on our roof when he fell off and hit his head. I performed CPR on him for 12 minutes while waiting for the ambulance. When they arrived I was covered in his blood. I still remember the taste and smell of the blood, the sound he made when he fell, him gurgling in pain and fear. Though it's significantly not as traumatizing as war, but it was still fucking traumatizing.
