You don't need to know Java to be a successful botter, I know a couple guys who just pay others to write scripts for them. It just saves you a lot of time and money.
What I'm saying is, go out in to the game and find a way to make money that is easily bottable. For example, when Zeah was released, I had 12 accounts botting Saltpetre on the first day, because I anticipated it would be in high demand (grindy item, needed for lots of things, tradeable). Ended up making 400k/hr per account for 3 days until I crashed the market, now they're stuck at 100gp ea.

If you want a little extra income, just bot one of the "safe" methods that everyone knows about. I mentioned Blast Furnace and MTA because they have extremely low requirements (~level 30 in one or two stats) and they're relatively safe. You will make your bond back in one day, then you have a few days (on average) to profit.
Unless you want to make it your full time job - and believe me it can be tedious at times - you're better off just going with the "safety-in-numbers" approach. Since you're only botting a couple accounts for a little extra income, you should be able to find some time to do quests on the accounts and make them stand out from the bulk of bots, giving them a few extra days of life.

- Time required to create the account
- GP/HR of method
- Average life span of account
If you do that for pretty much any KNOWN method, you will conclude that blast furnace and MTA are your best options. Reason being is because it is extremely easy to replace accounts, and they make around 400k an hour. Sure there is a "high ban rate", because there are hundreds of idiot gold farmers there with level 3 accounts. Get like ~40 combat stats and ~500 total level and you will last weeks there, assuming you're breaking for at least 10 hours a day.
