Captain Janeway is a dumb bitch.
>be Janeway
>go out on three week mission
>somehow fuck up so badly end up in the Delta Quadrant, on the other side of the galaxy
>violate the temporal and prime directive over 9k times per episode
>murders one of her own crewman
>encounters borg
>collaborates with borg
>kidnaps a borg
>forces borg to seperate from the collective
>when she gets home instead of being tried for her war crimes she gets promoted to Admiral cause daddy is one too
inb4 prime directive doesn't matter because Delta Quadrant

No that's pretty right actually, but imo
TNG>TOS>ENT>VOY>DS9
>>671384387
Jesus Christ you could not be more of a major fucking neckbeard nerd if you tried...
this is now a Neelix thread
ENT was fairly fun. They should have just laid off all that time travel shit, and maybe focused more on the Klingons & Romulans. However I liked that they at least tried to introduce some new species and enemies, instead of just rehasing the same old ones.
>>671384646
tos aged too badly, tng still has its flair even when watched today
i was watching a tng episode at a boring family event thing and one of the 7 year olds yelled out "hes holding an ipad"
i gave his parents the death stare, and they made him apologise, but still.
>>671384914
Why didn't they kill this cunt off at the drawing table. Both him and his idiot girlfriend.

you think neelix was bad? try icheb. hwill hweaton reloaded.
>>671385537
The premise seems sounds, but I can't remember if the execution was dumb or not. However I don't see why the Borg wouldn't just aritificially age children until they can become proper drones.
TNG > VOY > ENT > TOS > DS9 > TAS
>>671385743

it was Voyager, of course it was fucking dumb as shit

I've been watching all of Star Trek over the last couple of years since I never watched it as a kid. I'm currently like 5 episodes into ENT. Thus far, I'd say my rating is:
TNG > TOS >>>>>> ENT > DS9 > VOY
Some tier ratings:
>Unassimilatable Tier
Picard
>Top Tier
Spock, Seven, Kirk, Data
>Good tier:
Worf, Scotty, Bones, Barclay, The Doctor, Dr. Bashir, O'Brien
>Average Tier
LaForge, Riker, Tuvok, Tom Paris, Kira, Sisko, Jadzia, Quark, Ezri
>Bad Tier
Janeway, Torres, Troi, Dr. Crusher, Harry Kim, Kes
>Kill Them Quick Tier
Odo, Chakotay, Wesley, Lwaxana Troi, Neelix
>>671389374
Watching writers rape Gene's cuck ideas was well worth Sisko's overacting.
>>671389363
These episodes were pretty fun. If it hadn't been for the fact that humans were evil beyond nazi-standards just so we would understand they are evil, I would have watched season after season of it.
Also, humanity taking over the galaxy sounds like a great idea in the first place.
>>671389614
Season 3 will be shit. They gambled with a new formula and it sucked. Season 4 will be as good as TNG.
>>671389614

absolutely cancer of star trek...
this and early diana troy and her eyes in darkness episode
>>671389802
Humans do take over the galaxy, look at Enterprise Vulcans and Andorians compared to the Federation. Human ideals win out. Human ideals always win out.
We're the borg, but we don't tell them they're going to be assimilated.
>>671390386
Forgettable tier, but I guess if I had to put her in the list I'd say Bad Tier.
>>671389825
I remember this episode fuck what a little faggot. Nobody likes a smartass why would they think kids would relate to this piece of shit.
>>671390345

>>671384387
10/10
>>671384387
Feck you, OP.
>>671388907
What pissed me off about Janeway was her hypocrisy, when they encountered the other Federation starship in Delta quadrant was the worse.
Accused the other crew of the "crime" of abandoning the prime directive while forgetting everything she did then killed them off
>>671390446
the federation are sjw. in reality they would have been wiped out by romulans or klingons
Janeway don't give a fuck about what you say.
>>671390587
Youre a terrible cook
Guise..Guise!!
Look What i brought back from the Delta Quadrant
>>671390446
Humans may be winning culturally, and due to the shows budget, maybe even demographically. However they should aspire to be more like the Klingons and Romulans. Not a single foreign national in their ranks.
That very reason is probably why they are losing ground to the Federation, but nevermind that fact.
>>671385826
where Star Trek continues would be in this comparison?
>>671390952
Those were the only two reasons to watch that show.
>>671387547
Didn't he keep asking for retarded raises in hopes he would get fired because he didn't want the role anymore?
>>671390692
>Implying both Klingons and Romulans aren't federation cucks in the end
DS9>TNG>TOS>VOY>ENT
Any of y'all who dog DS9 are crazy. It was the only one of the series where the "heroes" ended up being borderline evil half the time in the name of the greater good. Sisko made an entire (populated) planet unable to support life just to win.
>>671391252
Didn't the Klingons completely obliterate the Federation in a war? They only made peace since a Federation ship sacrificed itself to save a bunch of Klingons.
But in the future I think it is canon that the Empire is integrated into the Federation.
>>671384387
>when she gets home instead of being tried for her war crimes she gets promoted to Admiral cause daddy is one too
2real4fiction
>>671390986
They don't have to be human on the outside, to act like humans on the inside. Andorian warrior culture? Gone. Vulcan isolationism? Gone. Bajoran caste system? Not today spacejews.
>>671390845
That captain was far more interesting and human than that psychopath.
>>671391497
Not to mention that the relationship between the characters were just pure gold most of the time. Bashir and Garak, O'Brien and Bashir, Quark and Odo, etc etc. Rarely were episodes boring when it focused on the personal relationships of the crew.
>>671389825
>>671384914
Neelix: Star Trek's Jar-jar
>>671391561
I believe the federation was projected to lose that war, but in a generation or two. In Gene's notes, there was a show where the Klingons did join the federation, then overthrew it from the inside and ruled the galaxy.
It would have focused on a lone starfleet captain frozen in time, trying to rebuild the Federation after the Klingons collapsed into infighting. They did end up making the show, but they couldn't get star trek licencing so they changed all the names.
>>671388965

>>671392033
Yeah, it was called Andromeda, which was a pretty good show for the first two seasons then shit the bed with Hercules wanted a more staring role.
You are now aware that Tuvok now works at the Starfleet acadamy
>>671392200
Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda
The lead is weak, but the supporting cast is good. The parallels are really easy to see. They even get the borg in there.
>>671392200
Andromeda. Pretty good for the first two seasons.
>>671384387
DS9 > TOS > VOY > TNG > ENT
I know there's going to be hate for putting Voyager that high but it had better characters and better writing than the typical sterility of TNG.
Also, butblasted borg drone detected.
>>671392207

Are you fucking high? She lead her crew through uncharted space for years, dealing with hostile aliens and procuring unfamiliar technology in the process. She's kept her cool even at the worst of times, and single-handedly beat the Borg, then used their tech to get back to the Alpha Quadrant.
Picard? Thanks to him, earth almost got fucked BY the Borg.
>>671392633
I'm okay with that. They managed to fit a space opera into the star trek universe and it worked.

I love VOY because it's the only one where they're really exploring and cut off from just heading home like they do in every other series. But Janeway, fuck, she gives a self destruct command every other episode - even succeeded in that episode with the split timeline. She was ridiculous.
>>671389614
TNG was good when it wasn't moralizing, basically season 3+. It's dated with it's adventure of the the day/reset button episode format.
TOS was crap
ENT could've been good bug never made it over the early season hump that afflicts every Star Trek
Voyager was meh

I feel like that was more of a result of bad writing. and the usual "poor alien creatures, how dare you exploit them you monsters" resulting in a "only way out of this is death" scenario.
Doesnt excuse Janeway as a character as much as it simply falls into that common sci fi morality pothole.

Yeah DS9 had some great relationships and individual scenes among non-human characters. There's a fantastic scene with Garak and Quark before the Klingons attack the station*.
Even Voyager had that awesome scene with the Dr. and 7 of 9 singing You are My Sunshine.
*That was another good thing about DS9: lots of Klingon badassery.

>>671392102
I still dont get the problem people have with her decision. She saved 2 lives by ending 1. There's no way around that logic. Simple math evades people who use this against Janeway. I'm not a huge fan of her, but please find better arguments against her.
When I was 13 or 14 I wrote a fan fiction where the DS9 crew met James Bond. It was pretty weird.

That is fucking weird. VOY spent so much time with harry bitching about his poor luck with women but he got tons of play, more than any other cast member, they just never lasted long so he moved on. Sounds alpha as fuck to me, guy just didnt even know it.
>>671397746
Yes, bad writing definitely was the problem. It would have been great if they just ditched that good alien bs and incorporated the other crew.
Would have added some good friction of point of views that the show needed.

>raises her voice a few times in situations that demanded it

ok
>>671398041
Not saying she's not a good actress I just happen to be a fan of the real janeway's voice and mannerisms.
STAR TREK IS FOR OLDFAGS WHO DON'T REALIZE IT'S BEEN SURPASSED BY SHOWS LIKE BSG, THE EXPANSE & FIREFLY.
THAT CHEESY SHIT IS PAST ITS SELL BY DATE.
>>671398125
And Cardassian treachery. I thought Dukat brought a brillian sadism to the show.

Am I the only one that loved Deep Space 9? The serialized storytelling and darker town sold me on it. Granted, I watched all the series on netflix as I wasn't born when the majority of them were out, but still, I don't understand all the hate it gets.
I think a lot older trekkers dislike DS9 cause they were expecting more "Planet of the Week" sort of episodes and didn't get it.

after growing up with picard janeway just couldnt compare.

It's my favorite of the franchise, and /tv/ used to love it before they remembered that they hated blacks.

Uh, I watch all those shows and still like Trek. Derp. Also, btw, Firefly ended its short run while Enterprise was still airing. Learn to appreciate history, kid.

Your only somewhat valid argument.

roll
>>671398652
Yeah this is the exact complaint I typically hear. Some fans wanted a new self-contained story of an alien experience in each ep (ala TOS or TNG) rather than broad interpersonal arcing storylines which is the direction DS9 went in. Different strokes I guess
>>671398652
No DS9 was the best one. TNG probably had the best writing, at least among a subset of really great episodes; but there were also some really horrible ones. Pound for pound DS9 was the best series, and had some really good episodes of its own. The Die is Cast, In the Pale Moonlight, By Inferno's Light, and so forth.
But TNG had Measure of a Man. Checkmate.
>>671399117
>they didn't trek

Eat shit and do a time travel episode in 19th C San Francisco with a Klingon and a yellow skin android.
>>671399621
>yellow skin android
He's a Frenchman, anon

Such a great double episode!!!
>>671399621
>implying yellow skinned people weren't a common sight in that region at that time
>>671399032
Yeah, because oldfags couldn't appreciate the future. It wouldn't be so bad if you acknowledged that it's dated as fuck, but you Trekkies still act like it's a good show today. It's not.
>>671399460
DS9 just kind of lost it at the end with the Emissary and Wormhole Alien shit, which had been fine until they went full retard with it.
>>671399858
Not that yellow. Unless you're fucking suffering liver failure to the point of jaundice.
>>671399958
i dont remember anyone asking your opinion on some other show that has nothing to do with this thread faggot.
>>671399460
Dude, the single best episode, and probably the darkest episode of ANY trek series...
Sisko had a tough fucking choice there.
>>671398806
I don't hate him because he's black. I hate him because he's a nigger.
Brutish, thuggish, abrasive, ignorant, short-tempered, uncultured, condesending swine ghetto punching and "muh prophets"-ing through a show filled by not-kike inserts in first part and completely unbelievable war in the second part of the run. Garrack and Quark carried the show, Bashir and Rom to the lesser degree. Bad guys were Captain America rejects with some flair here and there.
>>671399958
I acknowledge its dated as fuck, that's empirically correct. It's easy to date the show from its conventions. That doesn't make it a BAD show though.
>>671400070
Yeah that's pretty fair. The writing got lazy in the last season.
>>671400336
Kirk was far more violent than Sisko. Sisko was just better at fistfighting than any of the other captains.
>>671384387
Janeway = Captain Jonas Grumby
>>671400265
I would take Darmok and Jalad episode of TNG over anything that DS9 crapped out any time any day.

>Canned after 1 season.
Many great shows canned after 1 season, because oldfags didn't understand that ratings were not the be all and end all.
In the modern era, people get this. Which is why Netflix doesn't release ratings.
* * *
From the NY TIMES:
Mr. Sarandos, instead, pointed to the number of Netflix subscribers, which he said is about 70 million worldwide, and 43 million in the United States. In keeping with his public stance that Netflix would never release ratings, he said he did not want to engage in a “weekly arms race.”
“Once we give a number for a show, then every show will be benchmarked off of that show even though they were built sometimes for very specific audiences,” he said.
He added: “There is a very natural inclination to say, ‘Relative to this show, this show is a failure.’ That puts a lot of creative pressure on the talent.”
