That is one experiment that you, alone, can do, which proves the earth is a globe.

The Earth always casts a round shadow on the moon during an eclipse. Anyone with a basic grasp of geometry can see with their own eyes that the Earth is round any time there is a lunar eclipse. Go to the coast, any coast. Have a friend get on a ship and sail away directly perpendicular to the coast. As he sails away, you will see that at a certain point his ship will begin to 'sink' little by little, as the curvature of the earth 'rises' over his ship, due to your perspective. This will work on any coast, with any ship, as long as it's large enough to be seen. I recommend bringing a set of good binoculars in case you can no longer see your friend.
