Almost all the political threads (and posters in them) seem to assume that Clinton is stupid. A person who has held numerous really tough jobs – as well as a law degree and written books and all that stuff. Why do they assume this?
They all assume that she was too stupid to realise that the number of email servers she used, or the number of devices she used to access email would be easily discovered. So they claim that when she said “one” she was lying, a simple easy to uncover lie. That she was intentionally trying to deceive Congress and the American people when she gave that answer. Similarly when she said there was no classified material in her emails- she knew that it would be examined, and investigated and that if there was classified material it would be uncovered. That if she was lying it would be easily shown, that if she was trying to deceive it would be quickly revealed.
How stupid would she have to be to have lied about this? Really stupid. Really, really stupid. Naive. Idiot level stupid.
But Hillary has been investigated and scrutinised all her life. Her entire life has been on camera or tape. She knows what an investigation does. She knows that those easily falsified statements were easily shown to be false. Why would she make them? Why would she lie?
Answer. She wouldn’t. So she didn’t lie.
She made Mistakes, or honest but factually incorrect answers. A few of them – not hundreds, not daily, not all the time – a few mistakes or wrong answers in eleven hours of questions.
So can we all stop getting worked up about her lying now? It is a lie that she lies all the time. It is a lie to say she lied to congress. It is a lie to say she is untrustworthy. The ‘liar’ meme has outgrown its usefulness. It is just stupid, and easily detected lie. We are smarter than that. As she is.
