Polling data can be *very* easily skewed to favor whatever narrative you want. You want Hillary to look like she's ahead? You oversample data from the inner cities and minority neighborhoods. You want Trump to appear ahead? You oversample rural areas and old white voters.
And Johnson, despite the fact that he has about 15-20% of the actual registered voters' support, only polls at like 1%, you know why? They undersample the under 30 demographic which tends to vote 3rd party.
