What happened, though, is that Katherine Harris called all of her Republican buddies that were manning the polling stations in conservative areas, and told them to keep counting. I'm not against it either. If former convicts were a significant enough voting block, then something might actually be done about the revolving door prison system. The entire idea of incarceration is to not just punish, but rehabilitate and reform criminals so that eventually when they reenter society, they can function and contribute to it. Our criminal justice system does not do this. It takes people who have done petty shit, and turns them into hardened criminals, who will statistically return over and over again throughout their entire lives.
The same is true about kids too. If they voted, then you goddamn better believe the school systems wouldn't be so shitty. I realize that 6 year olds aren't going to make very informed decisions, but by the end of middle school, most kids do understand to some degree at least that education is important to their future.
