The Gear VR seems to be extremely affordable too, it's too bad it's fuckhuge so it would be a nightmare to mount on the inside of a fursuit head. Being in a fursuit head presents some other design considerations too - Thermals, backup contingencies in case of electrical failure, etc...

You can't. Most FPV systems operate on 5.8 GHz, which you phone cannot receive. Buying the video receiver I mentioned is just an antenna and a demux that will translate the signal into somethi g your phone can read. Be warned, most phones don't have a UVC driver to interpret the signal, which is why you need an app like FPViewer or similar.
