The most expensive is the first dog. Also vet fees can get high. There are places where you can pay a monthly fixed rate for unlimited visits. I think petsmart does that. It's wonderful. Only $30 per dog per month.
Aside from that try getting a membership card to a restaurant meat supply company, or find a good butcher who can give you meat for cheap. They love neck bones, chicken breast, organs all the cheap cuts of meat.
As far as land to keep dogs, some places are very cheap in the country. Forget about having 5 dogs in a shit tier apartment.

But when I got my first dog I stopped eating too much because I'd have to share with her. Then of course you have to take them for walks, dog park, etc. And it teaches you to be more social with humans too. Because you make conversation with them at the park. Like I said, look into country houses if possible. Try starting an internet business that you can do from a remote cottage somewhere and make money without driving 2 hours to work everyday.
You can also grind a few years at a high paying job, then use the money to start a business, and keep most of your time for your dogs. It's not fulfilling to work 10 hours a day with your dog wife waiting at home doing nothing. I was doing that at first and it sucked ass. Start a business. Anything, even mowing lawns. Put some flyers up in your supermarket so you don't have to work 10 hours a day this time next year. So your doggo wife won't be stuck at home waiting for you. I still regret doing that to my first dog.
