Dunno how it is with other places (there's probably something similar), but in Australia we have 'muck up day', a day where the highest year students get to fuck shit up before graduation. There are usually restrictions in place, but there's always a couple of cunts who don't follow them.

Some of the year 12s were lighting flares and throwing them at random into classrooms, hallways, etc. Scorched carpets, bins on fire, and permanently scarred walls were the only casualties.
Except for the Science wing, where they decided to throw a flare into the chemical storage room.
The entire school was called out to the yard before we knew this though, as we'd all been distracted by the other flares and the principal had called the police for a 'bomb threat'. Before we knew it, there was a bang we could hear from the other side of the school, and soon after that the Science wing was on fire.
We all got to go home for a while, the students in charge were expelled, the science wing ended up burning down, and it made the news.
